Snazzys Design Team Kit Graphic 45

Hello Val here with a very warm welcome to the start of first cycle of projects from Snazzy's brand new Design Team - if you missed the introductions then you can meet the new teamies Minxy here, Claire here, Lucy here and Diana here and I can't wait to see what they make!

Here's the first kit they have to work with....

.... Twelve Days of Christmas from Graphic 45 8x8 Paper Pad, Cling Stamps, 12x12 Stickers, 6x12 Pockets & Tags, and 6x12 Banners.

Very traditional with beautiful imagery in stunningly rich colour combinations. I have to confess that I loved these papers but actually found them quite difficult to work with, I'm much more of an inky painty crafter and find papers, stickers and embellishments a bit of a challenge but I had agreed to make a couple of workshop projects for Snazzys with the kit sooo....

  Firstly, a custom workshop especially for the wonderful Kathy & Co who are a delight to have in the studio (and if you want to see more of what they get up to you can find their ringleader's blog here)

I initially envisionaged, and started, a lot of fussy cutting from the papers but then decided workshops are supposed to be fun and fussy cutting is not for everyone so changed tack. These are the elements I used from the kit to which I added a house shaped shadow box, Sand and White Acrylic Paint from Eco Green Crafts, 12x12 sheet of Bazzill black cardstock, a Tim Holtz Ideaology Christmas Muse Token, Wizard Frosted Shrink Plastic, Tsukineko Versafine Ink in Olympia Green and a Creative Expressions medium glass vial coloured with Ranger Snowcap Alcohol Ink Mixative.

I finished up with a very different project than I had first intended but I was happy enough with it in the end.

Well, I will be back later in the week to share the cards I made for Wednesday's workshop and show you what happened to all the fussy cutting I did - nothing goes to waste lol, or at least that's my excuse reason for all the hoarding of bits and bobs.

Design Team Project #3 ....

Morning Snazzy fans, today I'm back sharing my last project featuring this month's design team collection.

Using my faithful alterable item to go to (Paper Mache Hanging Board), I collaged various papers from the collection using Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium.

Using the Ideaology Festive Adornments to embellish the hanging, I coloured them using Treasure Gold Wax.

Ideaology Muse Tokens (Festive) coloured as above.

I love the dimension from the papers which have been accented with Fresco Acrylic Paint & Treasure Gold Wax (Spanish Topaz).

A little smidging of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint on the number 24.

The back has been decorated using the Hero Arts Clear stamp set (Believe) which has been inked with Archival Ink (Library Green).

DT Project #1 (Santa Claus Is Coming) - A Winner & NEWS ....

Okay onto business lol ..... this month the design team are working with this kit

My first project is using a blank Artemio 15x15cm Shadow Box which has been painted with Eco - Friendly Acrylic Paint (Pomegranate).

I've applied Fresco Acrylic Paint (Holly) to a texture sponge and randomly sponged over the front of the frame.

A little touch of sparkle courtsey of Rock Candy Dry Glitter & some Ranger Glue n Seal along with a Ideaology Curio Knob

For the centre of the box I cut a piece of cardstock from the collection (Down The Chimney) to size adhered with Cosmic Shimmer Glue. I then used a mini canvas to add dimension to the next layer of cardstock (Christmas Day/Christmas Cards) which was then coverd with the new Ideaology Frosted Film (love love love this stuff).

The strip along the bottom with Santa Claus is coming to town is from the Christmas Day/Holiday Borders cardstock. I will be back later in the week with another project to show you .... until then stay inky!!

Design Team Project #2 Featuring Prima

Good morning everyone, today I'm back sharing another DT project featuring the wonderful Prima Almanac collection.

I started out by painting a chunky wooden block with Acrylic Paint. I then stamped the script image from the above collection in Archival Ink (Sepia). I then used various scraps of papers to decorate all four sides, inking the edges with Distress Inks (Vintage Photo & Tattered Rose). The Ideaology Trimmings have been inked with Distress Stain (Milled Lavender). I have used various Idealogy metal embellishments and embellishments from the Art Tiles & Wooden Buttons set.

Design Team Project 3 .... Featuring My Minds Eye

Hello everyone, I'm back with my 3rd and final project of this year featuring My Minds Eye.

I made this home decor piece using a Large Rectangle Art Part Frame (Large Flourish Frames Set) from Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 range. I covered the frame using MME papers (Remember This). I then used another rectangle frame to add dimension which again was covered in MME papers (Good Measure) and adhered to the centre of the frame using 3d foam pads. I then cut Tim Holtz's Caged Bird die using GrungePaper which was painted with Adirondack Paint Dabber (Expresso) and spritzed with Perfect Pearl Mists (Biscotti). The picture is from the Ideaology Lost & Found Paper Pad which has been mounted using 3d foam pads. I have used brads from the "Everyday" Decorative Brads Set. The Chain Tassles are also from the Ideaology range. I also used Distress Inks (Walnut Stain) to distress the frame.

DT Project 2 Featuring My Minds Eye ....

Hello everyone, I'm back with my 2nd DT project featuring these wonderful goodies from My Minds Eye.

I started out by making a simple Birthday Card. Cover white cardstock with a sheet of Coredinations in black, then simply cut and layer co-ordinating papers of your choice. I used "Admit One" and "Picnic" to create the rosettes. The "Happy Birthday" quote is from Funstamps UK. The embellishments are from the Kraft Fun - "Everyday Fun" Decorative Brads set & "Everyday Fun" Button pack. The kisses stamp is from the "Everyday Fun" Stamps set.

I then covered the front of a size #5 Manilla Tag with more of the "Admit One" paper, distressing the edges with Distress Inks (Walnut Stain). Using various Ideaology pieces, Swivel Clasp, Jump Rings, Philosophy Tag, Baubles to create a Handbag Charm as the birthday gift. The locket is from my own stash, which has decorative brads adhered on the inside and the outside (adhered using Glossy Accents) from the "Everyday Fun" set.

The reverse of the size #5 tag has been stamped with Archival Inks (Jet Black, Coffee & Manganese Blue) using stamps from the "Happy Days" set & "Everyday Fun" set.

Design Team Project By Gillian .... Featuring Kaisercraft

Good morning everyone .... the beginning of a new month sees some more projects from the Design Team, again featuring Kaisercraft goodies.

For this project I started out by using an Art Frame (size 20x16cm) available from Snazzys. To achieve the "Peeled Paint" effect ....

1. I applied a base layer of Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint, allow paint to dry fully (I used a heat gun to speed things along).
2. I then painted a thick layer of PVA glue (you can also use Vaseline) for this technique.

3. I then painted another layer of Acrylic Paint this time using Buff Titanium, to speed things along I used a heat gun but you can equally leave it to air dry.

4. Remove the PVA glue by using a soft cloth (I used a baby wipe), this will also remove the second colour of paint and give you the "Peeled Paint" effect, you can choose to remove as little or as much as you like.

5. I then used Distress Inks in Walnut Stain to highlight the edges of the frame and the centre insert.

6. I then tore strips of paper from the Timeless Paper Pad (this pad is available in Vintage or Black & White) again inking with Walnut Stain, adhere strips to frame using Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium.

7. For the insert I used a Tim Holtz Texture Fade on cardstock, highlighting the crackle effect with Distress Inks Vintage Photo, trim to size and adhere to insert stand.

8. Apply Rock Candy Crackle Paint to top corners, allow to dry before highlighting areas with Distress Inks.

9. Stamp clock face from Kaisercraft Clear Stamps (Duchess Collection DS209) onto torn paper areas using Archival Ink Coffee.

10. Ink Kaisercraft Wooden Flourish (Roman Clock) with Distress Inks Walnut Stain, apply layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint, set aside to dry. Adhere Ideaology Game Spinner and Hitch Fastener to clock then using Ranger Glossy Accents adhere to frame.

11. Tear quote "Time after Time" from above paper pad, ink with Distress Inks Vintage Photo and adhere to bottom left of frame.

12. Cut words from paper pad, ink with Vintage Photo and adhere to Ideaology Ornate Frame, adhere to wooden frame using Glossy Accents.

Design Team Project #1

Good morning everyone ... Gillian here with my 1st DT project for Snazzy's. My project kit contained the following items which are available from Snazzy's.

7Gypsies Lille 12x12 Papers
7Gypsies Lille Clear Stamps
7Gypsies Lille Tags
Ranger Distress Stains (Vintage Photo & Weathered Wood)
Versafine Crimson Red
Tando Creative Chipboards (Mixed)

I started out by painting the smallest of the Configuration boxes including inserts with Adirondack Paint Dabber (Expresso). Using the 7Gypsies (Lille) papers I tore various areas of the paper and adhered to the side and top of the box using Matte Medium, then distressing with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo). I then stamped 7Gypsies (Lille) clear stamps in Versafine (Crimson Red) onto the 7Gypsies (Lille) tag and distressed with Vintage Photo. The inserts top left, top right, bottom left & bottom right also have 7Gypsies (Lille) paper within. I then covered the small Tando Chipboard squares with Lille papers and edged with Vintage Photo attaching a Philosophy Tag on one & a piece of IdeaologyTape on the other . I then stamped (7Gypsies Lille Stamps) onto said papers and adhered to the Ideaology Cork Vial (again using Matte Medium) and distressing with Vintage Photo. In the centre of the box I have torn a piece of 7Gypsies Lille papers and adhered to the Ideaology Film Strip using Matte Medium. I then highlighted various areas of the Configuration Box with Metallic Rub on Wax. Various Ideaology embellishments have been used to decorate the box.
