Design Team Project #1 by Astrid

Hello everyone and a very happy day to you. Today I am sharing my first project for this month using the absolutely wonderful Darkroom Door London Collection. With this project I am using Volume 2. I LOVE Darkroom Door stamps in any case, but this particular collection must be one of my all time favourites.

I decided to make a wall hanging using a little canvas board from my stash.

I started by covering the canvas board with some collage papers attaching them with Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium Matte. Next I put a thin wash of watery Gesso over it, mixed with a tiny bit of Paintdabber in Coffee. This was to blend the papers together a bit. When that was dry I added some texture paste with a bit more of the dabber through a stencil to add some texture

Time for some stamping. I chose various of my background stamps including some of the wonderful Kaisercraft stamps that Snazzys stocks, in various places onto my background with Black Archival Ink. I also chose 3 of the stamps from the London Collection and stamped them in a mix of Black and Coffee Archival Ink and then fussy cut them. I added them to my canvas together with a computer generated title, and then felt it needed some more texture, so I decided to add some Distress Crackle Paint. I only have very few colours so I chose Distressed Linen, but when it was dry didn't like it. So out came the Gesso again to colour over it. The final steps to finish the canvas were to ink right around the edges with Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap, followed by some chalk ink in dark brown. I also shaded around all the main stamped images to make them pop a bit more with a charcoal pencil and added a bit of shadow with vintage photo and a few high light with a white pencil. Hi snazzy folks, sorry for my delayed posting of this project, 

I got a little sidetracked as I have just adopted 2 kitties from out local shelter.

If your a kitty lover and wanna see them hop over to my blog.

So on to my project:

I went with the Piccadilly Circus image as my main focus, stamping it in black archival on a pre stamped distressed union jack. 

To highlight the image I glossy accented the stamped image.

Next I used my versafine satin red inkpad to stamp a london bus, and the cut out and mounted both pieces on some black card. I then mounted this to a kraft coloured card,

I finished with a Tim Holtz word band that I brushed with some white acrylic paint to make the message pop, and attached with some screwtop brads.

Just shows that with the same products you can get 2 totally different looks {see Gillian's 3rd project card Here}

Hiya snazzy peeps, Hope you've all enjoyed the projects so far this month, There is still plenty more where that came from, Starting with this string of bunting.

Yep I've gone the good old fashioned patriotic route for my project.

I first cut 5 triangles from an old cotton pillowcase, I left 1 white and then sprayed the others with London Blue and Postbox Red Dylusions sprays. Once they were dry I stamped each piece with images from the DD london 1 stamp set, in black archival ink.

Next I coloured some of the Tando london board shapes with copic markers. I then attached the shapes to the bottom of the butting with a wet glue, 1 per flag.
Then it was just a case of punching holes in the tops and adding eyelets, and then tying together with ribbon.

Design Team Project #3 ....

 Good morning everyone, I'm back with my final project using the Darkroom Door London Collection stamp set and yes it's another card this time with a vintage feel to reflect the main stamp image.

 I started by layering a sheet of printed newspaper imagery from the Kaisercraft Black & White Timeless Paper Pad to 6x6 Kraft cardstock, which was then swiped over with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo), the edges have been distressed using the Tim Holtz Tonic Paper Distresser and then edged with Archival Ink (Coffee).

 To adhere the centre piece, the strip along the bottom & the Ideaology Word Band I have used my new fav 3d product .. Stix2 Clear Foam On A Roll (available from Snazzy's).

For the centre panel I used Manilla cardstock which has been inked with Vintage Photo, then spritzed with water, again it has been distressed at the edges and inked as above.

Design Team Project #2 ....

Good morning everyone Gillian here,  today I'm back sharing a quick & simple card using the gorgeous Darkroom Door London Collection Vol 1 & 2, some 6x6 white cardstock, Versafine Ink (Satin Red), Archival Ink (Jet Black), the background paper is from the Kaisercraft Black & White Timeless 6 1/2 Paper Pad.

 I love the "Sketch" like appearance of the Big Ben image to which I have simply stamped three times, masking off part of the stamp each time to give the appearance of the iconic landmark fading into the distance.

Design Team Project #1 Featuring .... Darkroom Door & DT News

Good morning everyone ... June is now upon us and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations are under way, hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend whatever you may be up to.

This month the Design Team will be working with the fabby stamps from Darkroom Door (and in particular the London collection) to tie in with the celebrations.

Before I share my first project of the week, a huge thank you to you all for leaving such great comments on our PanPastel projects ... Kirsten was our lucky winner who will receive a set of PanPastels.

Okay on with my first project ....

 I started out by painting all of the wooden chest with acrylic paint including the metal hardware, allow to dry before applying second coat.

I then stamped images from Darkroom Door London Collection Vol 1 (DDRS073) with Archival Ink (Coffee). I then used Distress Inks in (Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs & Rusty Hinge) to age the edges of the chest.

I then applied Distress Inks (Vintage Photo) several times to the hardware, again to give it an aged/distressed look. The small compass is from Tando Creative which I have painted with acrylic paint then smooshed with Distress Inks before applying a generous layer of Distress Crackle Paint (Rock Candy)

 I have painted the Ideaology Foundation metal feet with acrylic paint as above, once dry I then swiped some Distress Inks (Rusty Hinge) over the top. I have added some rope adhering with Cosmic Shimer Dries Clear Glue.

After weeks of having to keep this news under wraps I can finally reveal that the latest member to join the Snazzy Design Team is none other than "The" Hels Sheridan ...... hurrah, hurrah hurrah!!

Now most of you will be familiar with Hels work, Hel's is a Certified Ranger Educator and a very talented artist in her own right, Hel's also appears on Create & Craft for Creative Expressions and is on the DT for Craft Stamper & The Stamp Attic, so we are delighted that Hels could find time to join our fab team. 

Each member of the DT will continue to blog every week as we have done up until now, Hels will appear after Astrids week to blog, then it's back to me for a new months project.

Snazzy DT Blog Challenge #1 .... Candy Alert

DT Project Featuring Darkroom Door & Tando ....

Good morning everyone ... Gillian here back with my DT project for this month featuring Darkroom Door and Tando goodies. I started out by covering a 7x5 canvas board with cardstock from Tim's Vintage Shabby paper stack adhereing with Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium. I then used Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) around the edges of the canvas. Using the Tando Mask (Music), I spritzed with Adirondack Colour Wash Spray in Expresso and dried with a heat gun. I then adhered Tissue Tape (Symphony) to a piece of manilla cardstock and used Tim Holtz Paper Distresser to distress the edges, again using Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) for highlighting. I then stamped quotes from Darkroom Door Music Collection in Archival Ink (Coffee) onto the cardstock. I then stamped more images from the collection onto vintage shabby paper, trimming to size and mounting with 3d foam pads. Using various musical chipboard shapes from the Tando Music Note Set which have been inked with Distress Stain (Tumbled Glass) and stamped with Archival Ink (Coffee). The small tag has been distressed with Walnut Stain around the edges.
