Design Team Project #2 ....

Good morning everyone Gillian here,  today I'm back sharing a quick & simple card using the gorgeous Darkroom Door London Collection Vol 1 & 2, some 6x6 white cardstock, Versafine Ink (Satin Red), Archival Ink (Jet Black), the background paper is from the Kaisercraft Black & White Timeless 6 1/2 Paper Pad.

 I love the "Sketch" like appearance of the Big Ben image to which I have simply stamped three times, masking off part of the stamp each time to give the appearance of the iconic landmark fading into the distance.

Design Team Project #1 Featuring .... Darkroom Door & DT News

Good morning everyone ... June is now upon us and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations are under way, hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend whatever you may be up to.

This month the Design Team will be working with the fabby stamps from Darkroom Door (and in particular the London collection) to tie in with the celebrations.

Before I share my first project of the week, a huge thank you to you all for leaving such great comments on our PanPastel projects ... Kirsten was our lucky winner who will receive a set of PanPastels.

Okay on with my first project ....

 I started out by painting all of the wooden chest with acrylic paint including the metal hardware, allow to dry before applying second coat.

I then stamped images from Darkroom Door London Collection Vol 1 (DDRS073) with Archival Ink (Coffee). I then used Distress Inks in (Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs & Rusty Hinge) to age the edges of the chest.

I then applied Distress Inks (Vintage Photo) several times to the hardware, again to give it an aged/distressed look. The small compass is from Tando Creative which I have painted with acrylic paint then smooshed with Distress Inks before applying a generous layer of Distress Crackle Paint (Rock Candy)

 I have painted the Ideaology Foundation metal feet with acrylic paint as above, once dry I then swiped some Distress Inks (Rusty Hinge) over the top. I have added some rope adhering with Cosmic Shimer Dries Clear Glue.

After weeks of having to keep this news under wraps I can finally reveal that the latest member to join the Snazzy Design Team is none other than "The" Hels Sheridan ...... hurrah, hurrah hurrah!!

Now most of you will be familiar with Hels work, Hel's is a Certified Ranger Educator and a very talented artist in her own right, Hel's also appears on Create & Craft for Creative Expressions and is on the DT for Craft Stamper & The Stamp Attic, so we are delighted that Hels could find time to join our fab team. 

Each member of the DT will continue to blog every week as we have done up until now, Hels will appear after Astrids week to blog, then it's back to me for a new months project.

Panpastel Winner & Watch This Space ...

Design Team Project #3 by Astrid

Hello everyone and welcome to the last post featuring the wonderful Panpastels.

This time I will show you how just 5 colours: Hansa Yellow, Permanent Red Shade, Phtalo Blue Shade, Burnt Sienna Shade and Titanium White can be used to create a whole rainbow of colours in a painterly sort of background.

I started with a piece of water colour paper and gave it a very light dusting of yellow. I then punched out a circle from a post it note, stuck it on to the water colour paper to save out the sun and used the various pastels to create a landscape. My next step was to add further details with some of my Prisma Color pencils I also used a Tim Holtz stamp stamped in Archival Black for the birds. Finally some more of the pastels to blend it all together.

Design Team Project # 2 by Astrid

Featuring Pan Pastels, Kaisercraft Vintage Timeless, Prima Almanac, Darkroom Door Music Collection

Hello everyone and welcome to our blog. Hope you have enjoyed all of our projects using Pan Pastels so far.

For my second project I decided to make a card.

I used only three of my  Panpastel colours: Permanent Red Shade, Burnt Sienna Shade and Titanium White.

I started by taking a small piece of craft card and stamped one of the stamps from the Darkroom Door Music Collection in Versamark Ink and dusted Titanium White Panpastel over it with the soft tool. I then over stamped in Archival Ink Coffee. Because I wanted the central part of the stamp to stand out more, I stamped the stamp again but this time onto white card, cut it out and adhered it over my original stamped image. I still wanted a bigger contrast between the whole image and the craft card and outlines it with a Vintage Photo Distressmarker. To be honest, I did not like the effect of the distress marker on the kraftcard as it soaked in too quickly and left rather hard lines....

I oulined the edge with a gold Krylon pen and then layered it onto several pieces of my chosen papers which I had edged with some more of the Sienna Panpastel first. I then cut several die cuts to embellish my card out of white cardstock and coloured them again with the Sienna Panpastel. I just love the soft dusty look this creates. For the rose I did the same but dusted with a mix of Permanent Red Shade, Sienna Shade and lots of Titanium White to create a dusty red colour and darkened the edges just a little bit with Vintage Photo Distress Ink

For the final touches I added some matching ribbon from my stash and a butterfly from the Prima Almanac Collection Papers and added a little bit of Stickles Diamond to the rose.

I love how the different Panpastel colours blend so easily with each other and by adding a bit more from one colour or another, you can match just perfectly with various paper collections.

On Friday I will show you how just 5 colours of the pan pastels can be mixed to create a colourful background and can be used almost like paints! Hope you'll come by to take another look.

Snazzys Design Team Project #1 by Astrid Featuring PanPastels

Hello everyone and welcome to our last week of showcasing the wonderful Pan Pastels. Before starting to show you my project I just want to remind you that if you would like a chance to win some of these pastels, make sure to leave a comment on this post

 Well, here is what I created:

It is a little holder for all off my pens, that normally just fly around my desk. I started by creating some papers to cover a humble toilet roll and a backing piece and of course I used the pastels to colour them.

I only have 5 of the pastel colours and for this project I used  all 5 of them: Titanium White, Hansa Yellow, Phtalo Blue Shade, Permanent Red Shade  and Sienna Brown Shade.

I used papers from the Kaisercraft 6.5 x 6.5 Vintage Timeless collection and started by giving the edges a light coating with Burnt Sienna Shade and  then used one of my die cuts as a stencil to give it some definition. As you can see from the photo I cut some slits around the bottom edge to fit it round the toilet roll.. Next I cut a backing  from Kraft Card and covered  it with  another bit of my coloured and stencilled paper. The next step was to cut a base with two of my die cuts out Kraft card. I coloured them with a mix of the Hansa Yellow and the Blue Shade to create green, I then cut a last bit of paper and this time, after covering it with some of the Sienna Brown, stencilled through a cup cake holder (purchased at my local super market). I love how the pastels give beautiful subtle patterns when using them through stencils.

Finally I created my various embellishments by diecutting them with my dies out of vanilla card stock and colouring them with the pastels. Red and white for the pink flowers, blue and yellow with some white to make it a lighter shade, for the green leaves and the border around the bottom of the toilet roll. As a finishing touch I inked along the edges of the flowers with some Victorian Velvet and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the edges of the leaves with Pine Needles Distress Ink. The butterfly is a stamp from my stash which I cut out and coloured with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. I also added a little Diamond Stickles to the flowers to add a bit of sparkle.
