DT Project #3

Well, here goes...my first project for Snazzy's.....be gentle with me!

When I first saw the 7 Gypsies 'Lille' Collection of papers, this one really stood out for me - I'm not a scrapbooker but this really felt like a good 12x12 paper to make a simple page but without looking too simple....do you know what I mean? If you don't, no worries lol I also had this 12x12 box frame sitting in my craft room, think Ive had it for 4 years or more - you can still buy them from 'The Range'. It was a plain wood frame but I've given it one of my painted treatments (which will be explained in the future).
Anyhow, I took the 'Life is Good' sheet and spritzed some red distress stain across the page, not sure if it shows up in the pics or not - I then took some Weathered Wood Distress ink, and rubbed it here there to give some of the printed images depth.
Ive added a 7Gypsies 'Lille' tag but I cut the end off and used it further up the page on the left hand side. (black with a printed number on it).
The name is Grungeboard letters which have simply been painted in black.
The butterflies and moths have been cut out of a piece of paper from the 7Gypsies 'Conservatory Collection'.
Ive also added a Tim Holtz clock face and spinner and a piece of ribbon coloured with distress inks.

I really wish I could show you the photo, which happens to be my nephew Jake but my brother/Jake's Dad wasn't to keen, which I do understand - I realise I'm biased but he's a real cutie, well, you'll just have to believe me on that one!

What a fab first project Paula. I don't scrapbook either which is a shame as I have 2 little grandchildren and another due in December. This is better than a scrapbook page though as you can have it on the wall on permanent display. The spritzed colour can be seen when you double click the photo and it's lovely. I love the paint job you've done on the frame too and it's a perfect colour match for the paper. It is a shame we can't see little Jake but I can understand your brother's opinion.`

Really lovely project Paula!

This is a lovely project to display rather than being put into a scrapbook. Lots of interest within this and great colour scheme.

I agree, great idea to frame a SB page. Love how you've distressed the frame. Can tell he's a cutie by that blonde hair (and I have a thing about not putting kids photos on the internet too). xx

I'm not much of a scrapbooker in the traditional sense either but I love framed pages and photos included on canvases, mini books etc.I love the way you have featured the paper and adapted the tag here whilst keeping the photo as the focus. Wonderful project - can't wait for you to share how you get that fabby effect on the frame1

I love the red, a much under used colour in my opinion.

Nowt simple about this missus, a FAB 1st DT project, loving those bold colours of the frame against those gorgeous papers, I'm not a scrapper either, but this looks a great layout, and yes Jake is a cutie:):) x

What a super project, I love the colouring. The frame is brilliant. I don't do scrapbooking as such either, but this is a great idea because it can be displayed. It is sensible not to show little Jake's pic, but we can imagine how cute that pic is and IRL. Elaine x

I love the treatment on your frame Paula, that red is such a vibrant colour. All the little elements that you have added make a great piece, and a lovely memento for your nephew.

Sorry for being so late but had no access to the net...
This is a fab first project! Most of us here don't seem to be scrapbookers, but like others have said, this is such a great idea, love everything about it!! And your little nephew looks cute even without his face showing!
