DT Project #2 featuring Prima Sunrise/Sunset Collection (posted by Lesley)

Hi again lovely Snazzy visitors!

I'm back with my second project using the fabulous Sunrise/Sunset Collection, designed by the equally fabulous Anna Dabrowska for Prima.  I have never dipped a toe in the water with regard to journaling but as part of the DT kit this time was a gorgeous journal I decided it was time to make a start.  So far, I've only got to the point of decorating the front cover but ........... it's a start right?  Lol!  Seriously though, this is a lovely journal and I hope I can get a page done once a little while.

I decided to take a few photos as I went along with this project.  Not exactly step-by-step but they do show a few of the stages.  First of all I applied white acrylic paint to the whole of the front cover and I followed this with blending light touches of Melon, Sand, Rose and Clay Eco acrylics, sometimes using a wet wipe if I got the colours a little too heavy.  I finished off with just a little black in opposite corners top left and bottom right.

I tore two pieces from one of the paper designs in the A4 pad, inked the torn edges with Adirondack Peach Bellini ink and adhered them to the cover with Cosmic Shimmer glue.  I followed this with some random stamping of the tiny flower background stamp from the collection, again using the Peach Bellini.

Before starting to add my embellishments I used a flourish mask and applied some texture paste which I then left to dry.  I was going to use some metallic wax on the raised areas but decided against it as I liked the subtlety of the white .

I then adhered some Grungepaper to the back of metal tape, die cut the letters using my Wordplay die and then put the letters through an embossing folder before applying black acrylic paint.  I rubbed some of the paint off with a wet wipe before it was quite dry and then sanded the letters to take off more of the paint.  I painted some Artemio lazer cut wood leaf sprays with New Grass Eco acrylic paint and when dry highlighted areas with metallic gold wax.  I cut a few words from the flower packaging from last month's kit and then decided what other embellishments I was going to use.  At this point I so wished I had ordered some of the wonderful Prima embellishments that are from this collection but I had left it too late so raided my stash instead.  I hope Snazzy's have some of the Sunrise/Sunset goodies left by the time I get round to my order because they are lovely!

I found the bits of lace in my bit box already dyed to colours that were perfect for this project so that gave me a feel good factor ;D!  I arranged all the embellishments, moving them around until I was happy and then stuck them down to the cover.  I added a bit of pencil shadowing around the little words.

Finally I gave the flower arrangement (the flowers are from last month's DT kit) a spritz of black shimmer spray which was very nerve wracking, lol!

When my back cover is decorated I will add some ribbons and lace to the wire binding but for now this is the completed front cover.

I will be using some more of the gorgeous paper designs from the A4 pad for the Snazzy's DT Blog Challenge coming up very soon and I hope to order a few more goodies from this beautiful collection before then ;D!   I hope you'll join in as you could be in with a chance of winning this absolutely fabulous journal by showing us how you are inspired by the talented Anna Dabrowska.

Next week Nicky will be sharing her projects which are always wonderful.  Don't forget to pop back!  Oh yes, and don't forget to leave a comment on Gillian's post HERE to be in the draw for this awesome DT kit!

In the meantime

Love the soft background with the boldness of the blacks & greens & the very lovely little metal embellishments which accent your background colours. All the texture combined with your sanded letters makes this a very striking piece indeed. The green leaves pick up the little touches of green on that bottom right floral embellishment too & the butterfly is a gorgeous touch.
