DT Project #1 featuring Sunrise/Sunset Collection (posted by Lesley)

Hello again lovely Snazzy's visitors!

Wow, are we a lucky bunch on the Snazzy's DT!  We have more fabulous products from the Bosses to work (ahem) with this month and this time they are from the gorgeous Prima Sunrise/Sunset Collection designed by the Oh! so talented Anna Dabrowska (aka Finnabair).

For my first project I've decorated a wooden door hanger and I apologise in advance for the quality of the photos. They were taken in two lots and the weather wasn't good for either of them but the second lot (which has all the leaves added) were taken when we were having a snow blizzard so I had to use the flash because it was so dark.

I covered the front of the hanger with one of the designer papers from the A4 pad then sanded the edges to get a neat finish before edging with a gold Pen Touch pen.   I inked round the edges with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

I found this lovely image in my stash and did an image transfer onto sticky backed canvas and then adhered the canvas to some medium weight card before using an oval Nestability die.  I then edged with the gold PenTouch again.  I drew an oval using the inside of the die onto the hanger and then used one of the little doily stamps from the Sunrise/Sunset collection to create a lacy frame with Dusty Concord DI and then adhered my image over the top using Cosmic Shimmer glue.

I did a little random background stamping using a lace stamp (Chocolate Baroque) and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink and also a little inking through a couple of masks (a birdcage and a leafy branch) using Dusty Concord DI.

I cut several spiral flowers in two sizes from the same background paper and some flourishes from plain card which I co-ordinated with DI.  When I was assembling the flowers, I poured some clear micro beads into the centres while the glue was still wet  and then I inked the edges of the flowers with Shabby Shutters DI then with glue using Cut'n'Dry foam before dipping them in clear Rock Candy Dry Glitter.  On the photo below you can see the relected shine of the flash on the micro beads but I don't think the glitter shows which is a shame because it's such a pretty sparkle in artificial  light.

I gave the leaves (from my stash) some shape before adding them to my hanger with dimensional glue and then finished off with ties of ribbon and the butterfly at the top.  I used the butterfly from last month's kit again ..... love it ...... onto some of the Sunrise/Sunset paper stamped in Dusty Concord and clear embossed before cutting out and adding to the hanger.  The final embellishments were the lace and teeny die cut butterfly at the bottom.

I'll be back later in the week with another project when I hope you can drop by again.  In the meantime, don't forgot to leave a comment on Gillian's first post HERE to be in the draw for this fabulous kit.

Till next time

Very pretty colour scheme and such a clever idea to use the mini doily stamp to create a lacy scalloped frame xx

Your combination of Shabby Shutters & Dusty Concord is lovely - especially the way the leaves pick up the greenness & I love your butterfly with the glittery flowers. Your lace edging across the bottom is a lovely echo of the lace stamping too.
Not sure what happened to Spring here either.
