Design Team Project #2 Featuring .... Wonderland

Hello everyone ... I'm back sharing my 2nd design team project showcasing the gorgeous papers from 7Dots Studio "Wonderland" collection. In this project I have used "Mushroom & Smoke".

To make this tag file folder, simply take a 12x12 piece of cardstock, fold from the bottom to the desired depth of pocket you require (3inches in this project), score with a Bone Folder, I used a glue stick to adhere the pockets at either side then fold cardstock in half again scoring with a bone folder. I then embellished the folder with elements from the following .... Stickers 6x12, Stickers 12x12 & Elements 12x12. On the back of the folder I use a punch to cut out circles from the Quadrille paper, again adhering with a glue stick and outlining with a charcoal pencil.

I covered a large manilla tag using "Royal Garden" paper, using Texture Paste through a stencil and again highlighting with a charcoal pencil. The paper doilie has been sprayed with Adirondack Colour Wash Spray (Butterscotch & Sunset Orange).

Design Team Project Featuring ....

Hello everyone .... a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and left a comment or shared their artwork with us during the Studio 490 month of February .... could it get any better .... oh yes indeedly ... the Design Team have some fab goodies to play with over the next few months .... watch this space for CHA 2012 releases (shhhh don't tell anyone I shared that with you)!!!

So onto this months project kit .... we have the latest release from 7Dots Studio "Wonderland" collection .... oh YES to say I'm super excited is an understatement. I have to admit it took everything I had to cut into the papers/distress them ... does anyone else have a paper stroking phobia lol or is it just me!! I need to get more :)

We will also be featuring Chocolate Baroque "The Art Of Chess Stamp Set" ... more on that later in the week. HOWEVER .... One lucky person who stops by and leaves us a comment will be selected by Random.org at the end of the month and receive the "The Art of Chess Stamp set" as a prize!!!

To create the layout I used the following papers from the collection "Mad Tea Party, Spades & Clubs, Quadrille". I also used elements from the Wonderland Collection - 12x12 Die Cut Sheet, 12x12 Sticker Sheet & 6x12 Sticker Sheet. To obtain the worn edges I used a Tim Holtz Tonic Paper Distresser. Perfet Pearl Mist (Biscotti). I used a Stencil/Mask to achieve the mini gears background.

Other elements used available from Snazzy's .... Kaisercraft Wooden Flourish (Roman Clock), Ideaology Film Strip Ribbon, Distress Ink (Walnut Stain, Weathered Wood & Vintage Photo), The image, flowers and lace applique are from my own stash.

DT projects 3 & 4 featuring Studio 490

Hi all,

Here is Astrid again with the last two projects for this month, this time using some more of the Studio 490 Art Parts” and a set of stamps. I know, I know, it’s March today already….

My first project is a double page out of my art journal. I am not going to tell you exactly how I did it, for the whole thing with art journaling is that anything goes. Just in general terms, I used a combination of paints, sprays, water- soluble crayons, collage and of course the stamps, some of which I altered and played around with.

Here is a picture of what my set of stamps look like, that way it is easier to see how I played around with them.

For my next project I used more bits from the Studio 490 “Art Parts” Sample Pack in combination with the stamps.

I covered the large flower head with paper and inked it with Vintage Photo distress ink. The smaller flower head I covered with card, which had first been embossed with one of the Tim Holtz embossing folders.. The rosette and centre were made previously and were sitting around in my stash. The stand of the flower was made by glueing various of the Art Parts together and then embellished with some of the stamps, stamped on strong card, coloured and cut out.

Hello everyone,

Isn’t it surprising how the month has flown by and here we are already nearly at the end of it and with that it is my turn to show you some projects featuring the amazing Wendy Vecchi products: “Art Parts”, “Clearly for Art” and a set of ”Studio 490 stamps” .

Those of you who follow this blog regularly have seen incredible projects this month already. Remember also there is still a chance to enter our challenge and win some for yourself, just click on the Studio 490 picture on the right and you will be taken straight there.

With my projects I want to show just how versatile these products are, they can be used for any style and the result can look quite different from Wendy’s own work.

My first projects are made in Shabby Chic style, a hanger and reel to hold lace.

They are simple to make. For the hanger I covered the art parts in papers and fussy cut elements using Kaiser Craft 61/2” Paper Pad “Vintage Timeless”. I glued lace between the backing and the rim and covered the rim with Rangers Crackle Accents. I then embellished with a combination of flowers and leaves made from the “Clearly for Art” coloured with distress inks and some flowers etc I had in my stash. The photo is an old photo of my dad and uncle, it must have been taken in about 1914.

The reel was made from some of the smaller circles in the “Art Parts”, again covered with the Kaiser Craft papers and embellished. The cylinder between the circles is an empty toilet roll.

Well here I am for my last offering this month. Have you all been playing along??

My last piece this month was another thrown together piece.. Proving that someone like me who has never really played properly with art parts before can do it so, so can you.. you still have a couple of days left to be in with that chance of winning some 490 stash, check out the link in the sidebar.

So to my piece..

This was a nice simple piece to make as all I did was pick a selection of art parts, some were from the DT pack and some were my own but all are available from Snazzy's.

I covered some of the art parts with papers from the MME funday collection, and the leaves I stained with distress stain and adirondack colourwash spray.

I arranged and glued them all together with some stix2 ultra clear tape. I stamped one of the quotes from the 'seriously art' set onto a piece of lined paper I had in my stash and added a idea-ology pen nib to the top, I slipped this into place, again using the ultra clear tape.

I finished with a couple of pine cone die roses cut out of the MME papers and attached a couple of idea-ology memo pins to the back with a hot glue gun making the loops stick out so I could use some twine to hang the piece.

So there you have it from me for another month. I hope you have enjoyed my offerings, but don't despair, the 490 fun isn't over yet, we still have Astrid's fab art to come so check back in a few days for her first piece.

Art Parts Sample Pack

Clearly for Art

'Nature's Art' , 'Art Inspiration' & 'In Love With Art' 490 Stamps

Hi Snazzy Folks, Tis me again with my next Wendy inspired art piece.

This time I decided to work with the DT set of stamps I had received and one of the spool sets from the sample pack {something i've never tried b4}

Now where to start: I say this as the piece kind of developed as I was making it rather than having a set plan when I started. I think I started by inking the lrg circle and the small spool circle top art parts with peeled paint distress stain and stamping with archival ink the background from the nature's art set.

I covered the other spool circle bottom and centre piece with Tim Holtz vintage shabby papers and gave them a touch up in colour with some broken china distress stain.

Before I stuck them all together with stix2 ultra clear tape and matt accents I made a small slit in the top spool piece large enough for one of the petals from one of the large flowers to sit snugly in creating a backdrop for the top.

I finished off the base with some butterfly's that I created by stamping the butterfly from the nature's art set in black stazon on clear clearly for art, and then alcohol inked the underside giving the butterfly's their colour.

I coloured the large flower art part with a wash of picket fence then mustard seed distress stain, and distress inked the edges with spiced marmalade. I stamped the petals with the doily from the 'in love with art' set and the ART from the 'art inspirations' set in black archival ink. I attached the flower to the base by inserting it into the pre made slit and adding a bit of glossy accents to hold in place.

Next came the painstaking task of stamping and cutting out goodness knows how many of the leaves from the 'nature's art' set, I stamped 4 on the clearly for art in stazon cactus green and archival olive, I don't know if it was the extra juicy pads but both inks seemed to bleed out a bit on the C4A surface.

The rest I stamped onto grungepaper.

Once they were all cut out I arranged on the top, Using the C4A leaves for some height and interest and draping the grungpaper ones on the base. Another butterfly finished the top and I was done.

Sorry if you've nodded off after that mammoth explanation.. When you get caught up in the making of something you often forget you have to explain how it was done after lol

Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamps and art parts.

Hi snazzy folks, Here we are for my week of 490 fun, The girls have done a fab job so far so I hope my efforts continue to inspire and maybe even get you to crack open your 490 stash and have a play too. You could be a lucky winner if you do! see HERE for details.

My first project uses the rectangle frame and scalloped trims from the art parts sample pack

I stuck my frame to the matching base and attached one of the scallop trims to the bottom with stix2 ultra clear tape, I then gave the whole thing a coat of gesso, followed by a coat of stormy sky distress stain,

Next I stamped the tiny alphabet from the 'art inspiration' stamp set randomly over the frame.

I cut a piece of metal card to the size of the frame and placed it inside using more ultra clear tape to look like a mirror. And a happy accident occurred, as I was smoothing it down it created a frame within the frame so I decided to stamp inside with the believe quote also from the 'art inspiration' set and the tiny heart from the 'in love with art' set, I used black stazon for the words and ultramarine and timber brown stazon for the heart.

To finish off the front I coloured another scallop trim art part piece with walnut stain and attached it as a mini shelf. I took 2 hands from the 'dress forms and more' art parts set, and stamped then with the checked background from the 'nature's art' stamp set in vintage photo distress stain. and added them to the frame.

To finish the piece I needed a way for it to stand so I chopped up and used petals from the large flower art part. I coloured with stain and stamped with the dots background from the 'seriously art' stamp set, then I used superglue to fix the stands in place super quick.

Design Team Project #2 featuring Studio 490 (by Lesley)

Hello Again,

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day spent with someone you love, whether that be your partner or a beloved child, grandchild or anyone else that comes into the 'love' catagory.

Today I have my second project to show you for this month using the fabulous Studio 490 products designed by Wendy Vecchi. This time I have mainly used various flower stamps from different sets of Studio 490 stamps, together with some of the butterflies and also a couple of leaf Art Parts.

I decided to alter one of those fab cheap mirrors from a certain well known store but I have placed a piece of black card over the mirror for the purposes of taking the photos otherwise you would have had pics of me taking pics, lol! The artwork is much prettier! Anyway, I started with two layers of acrylic paint with a crackle medium sandwiched between (I used Fresco paints). After drying with a heat gun I stamped along the top and bottom with various Studio 490 stamps and also added a quote from the Dimensional Rose Art set using Archival inkpads.

I then used black Archival ink and several different flower stamps from the Make Mine Mini Art and Art Fit for a Queen stamp sets together with butterflies from Make Mine Mini Art again and Nature's Art, all onto Grungepaper. I cut them out and coloured all the flowers with Distress Inks using Cut n Dry Foam and painted the butterflies with Distress Re-inkers so that I could get the colour graduation on the wings. I always colour the backs too as this shows once they are shaped. I left them all to dry thoroughly and then shaped them all by rolling the edges before layering and adhering to the mirror with Glossy Accents.

Before adhering the flowers and butterfly to the bottom left corner, I took two of the leaf Art Parts, coloured them with Distress Inks and over stamped with a darker colour using a large background stamp from the Nature's Art set. I again used Glossy Accents to adhere. Finally, when everything was well and truly stuck I added the flat backed pearls to some of the flower centres and black Enamel Accents to the smaller ones.

Well, unfortunately, life has taken a bit of a twist this week so I won't be able to get back with another project at the weekend as I had hoped but our lovely Nicky will be here on Monday with the first of her Studio 490 projects and it's bound to be fabulous and totally inspirational.

Design Team Project #1 featuring Studio 490 (by Lesley)

Good Morning All,

What a lot of fun the DT are having this month playing with the fabulous Studio 490 products designed by the wonderful Wendy Vecchi. I already had three sets of Wendy's stamps but had never had chance to use them much ............ what a shame! Well, they've been brought out this past couple of weeks to use in conjunction with the products the bosses sent us to work with and they won't be neglected again if I can help it! Following on from Gillian's gorgeous projects my first piece to show you is very different and actually quite a change from my own normal style but I so enjoyed making my little hanging piece. In fact I was having so much fun I just realised I forgot to make a note of colours, paints, etc.,........ whoops!

I decided to use the circle frame from the sample pack of Art Parts and covered the back piece with a designer paper from the Kaisercraft Vintage Timeless pad we worked with a couple of months ago. I overstamped the paper with the large background stamp from Wendy's 'It's More Flower Art' set but you can't really see that in the photo. I then covered the circle frame with acrylic paint and when dry with Viva Precious Metal paint. When that was dry I stamped an image from 'Make Mine Mini Art' in black StazOn and then sanded the frame to give a distressed look.

I then covered some flower Art Parts with acrylic paint, followed by some more of the Kaisercraft paper and then inked around the edges. For the stem of the big flower I applied touches of a gold Dabber to the stem and leaves and then positioned them on my main piece. I found some teeny bottle tops in my stash which I coloured with a peeloff pen, attached to the flowers and then filled with beads and Glossy Accents.

The quote comes from another of Mrs Vecchi's stamp sets called 'Nature's Art' as does the large butterfly. I stamped the quote onto the Kaisercraft paper before cutting out with a deckle edged Nestie die, inked the edged and attached with 3D foam. I stamped the big butterfly and the small ones (from the 'Make Mine Mini Art' set) onto Clearly for Art molding plastic, cut them out, heated them to enable shaping and then painted them with Viva Precious Metal paint. Finally, I attached the keyhole and embellies at the bottom and sprinkled the beads. I used Glossy Accentss to attach all the embellishments.

Apart from the mini bottle tops and the Viva Precious Metal paint which I'm not sure about, everything I have used in this project can be purchased from Snazzy's. Their range of products is quite amazing!

Design Team Project #3 Featuring Studio 490 ....

Hello everyone .... I'm back with my last DT project featuring the awesome range that is Studio 490

can you hear the sadness in my voice .... really I could create art every day with these little beauties.

For this project I dug deep into the Art Parts Sample Pack we were sent .... well I didn't have to dig deep as I had oodles of parts still to play with. I started out by covering the circle insert with paper from Tim's Ideaology paper pad, trimmed to size and then sanded around the edges. I then coloured the circle frame with Distress Ink (Crushed Olive) and stamped the background stamp from Well Worn Art.

For the centre I have used a frame from the Bookplate Art Parts Set which I have inked using Distress Ink (Wild Honey) then stamped the centre image of the Bookplate using a stamp from Well Worn Art , I then stamped around the edge of the Bookplate with the background stamp from It's More Flower Art.

My fav gent of all time is from the Art Part Set "For The Guys" which I inked with Ditress Ink (Crushed Olive) and stamped with the corresponding stamp which is from SteamPunk Art.

I then used two of the scallop borders which are also in the sample pack, inked them using Wild Honey & Crushed Olive, stamped again with the two background stamps used above .... this is where the "lightbulb moment" came in ... I wondered if I could create like a layered shelf for the circle to stand within .... so I adhered the borders slightly offset from one another using Glossy Accents, I then used Ideaology Hitch Fasteners either side. I used four of the small circles from the spool kit to create a stand either side of the frame to add more stability (again using Wild Honey) for colour. To finish off I added Ideaology Cork Vials either side and filled them with metal brads & fasteners again adhering with Glossy Accents and also Ideaology pen Nibs.

Design Team Project #2 Featuring Studio 490 ....

Hello everyone ... continuing with all things Studio 490 inspired, I have gone from bright & colourful project #1 to dark vintage tones project #2.

For this project I have used the large rectangle frame and insert from the Art Part Sample Kit. I inked the frame using Distress Stain (Brushed Corduroy) and spritzed with Perfect Pearl Mist (Green Patina & Cappuchino). I covered the insert of the frame with paper from Tim Holtz Lost & Found Paper Pad.

The stamp & quote is from my choice of stamp set .... (Ticket To Art). The image is stamped with Archival Ink (Coffee) and distressed with Distress Stain Antique Linen. The truck is from "For The Guys" Art Part Set.

Design Team Project Featuring Studio 490 ....

Hello everyone ... I must tell you that I am super excited to share the news that Snazzy's will be featuring one of my FAV designers ("The" Wendy Vecchi) throughout the month of February .... Woot!

The DT will be sharing with you some inspirational projects, and again this month we would like to see all your amazing projects featuring the Studio 490 range. You can upload your projects until midnight on the 28th February ... this month ONE lucky person who shares their art work with us will win a Studio 490 STAMP SET of their choice .... AND there is more, one lucky person who stops by and leaves us a comment will be chosen by Random.Org on the 29th and will receive an ART PART SAMPLE PACK!

Each of the DT were sent an Art Part Sample Pack, Stamp Set of their choice & Clearly For Art Sample Pack.

For my 1st project I opted to use elements from the Art Pack Sample Pack & Clearly For Art (Clear). I started out by configuring my design. I used Distress Stains in (Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky, Pine Needles, Barn Door & Brushed Corduroy). I stamped the hearts from (Love To Make Art Set) onto GrungePaper and coloured using (Barn Door). The stamped quote on the Cylinder Roll is from (Love To Make Art). I also stamped the leaves from (Ticket To Art) onto GrungePaper, which was inked using (Pine Needles).

Other stamps used are (It's More Flower Art & Destination Art). The wing is from the Art Parts set (Simply Wings) & the key is from (Door Plate & Keys)

The Tulips are from the (Art From The Heart Set) which I stamped onto Clearly For Art (Clear) then inked with Alcohol Inks (Watermelon, Red Pepper & Lettuce). The rose buds are from Ideaology (Trimmings) pack which have been sprayed with Adirondack Colour Wash Spray (Lettuce).

Featuring 7 Dots Studio Dreamer Collection

Hello everyone. Today I am showing you the last two projects created with this amazing paper collection. I am also showing you some ideas with two other wonderful products available from Snazzys, namely their very own Steampunk Supplies and Viva Decor Flexible Stencil "4 Borders". I created two tags.

The first project is a steampunk tag, as you can see. I covered the tag with a piece of one of the papers, added another strip along the bottom and over that created some texture by pressing some texture paste through one of the stencils. The stamps used are from Darkroom Doors Steampunk set, available from Snazzys. The chain and steampunk elements are from their Steampunk Supplies and the lock and key are Tim Holtz.

The next tag is more "Shabby Chic". All papers used are of course from the collection. The little pen stamp I had in my stash, I'm sorry but I can't remember where it came from. Along the top of the tag you can see a further example of the borders mask.

Featuring 7 Dots Studio "Dreamer" collection & Creative Expressions "Tickets" Plate

For my second project I decided to show you an altered Triptych to demonstrate how the amazing products we are showing you this month can be used for mixed media projects.

The triptych is made by Creative-UK and is available from Snazzys.

This is how I did it:

I first sanded the wood blank down a bit and then coated it in two coats of Gesso. I then tore several bits of one of the dreamer collection papers and glued them on all three sides of the triptych. The next step was to add some Tim Holtz distress stains, a mix of Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Picket Fence to blend the paper in with the rest of the background. I then added some texture paste through a Prima mask in one corner and once it was dry spritzed it with Cosmic Shimmer Misting Ink Spray and some Walnut ink. I added a brad from my stash and further embellished with Tim Holtz keys and Locks from his Ideaology Range and various elements from the Dreamer Collection Stickers and Elements sheets. The little girl is a vintage photo I had in my stash.

Well, that's is from me just now but I have one more little project to show you on Friday using some other new products available from Snazzys, so I hope you'll be back to take a peak.

I will start this final week off by showing you a book card I made. Instructions on how to make these can be found all over the internet, but if you would like to know more details of how I made mine, please contact me.

Here is a detail from the front cover. The butterfly was stamped twice and coloured with distress inks. The background clock stamp is a Kaiser craft stamp. I had this in my stash already, but Snazzys sells Kaisercraft products.

:7 Dot Studio 'Dreamer' Collection

Well here I am with my final project of the month.. It's been an amazing intro to the team and I just want to thank everyone for the warm welcomes, support and kind comments.

So I mentioned yesterday that today's project was somehow related to the book I made..

And now you can see how!

It's a cute little bag to home your little book. This makes the perfect little gift for someone special.

So how do you make said bag I hear you cry.. Well you CLICK HERE and you'll be whisked off to another of my videos where I show you.. that's how!

The bag in the photo above actually turned out to be a bit small once my book was all filled up so in the video I give correct measurement to make a more fitting size bag.

And after the video I jazzed the new bag up a bit, with a few of the 'dreamer' collection stickers.. which by the way if I haven't mentioned before are a really good quality, nice a thick. I outlined each sticker with an oil pastel and rubbed in to blend the sticker into the background.

Yep it's me again with yet another project.. I know I know, I got a wee bit carried away this month what with it being my first week on the team an all.. You've been very spoiled for sure and the funs not over yet..

Today i'm sharing a little mini book created from a single piece of the 'dreamer'12x12 paper.

This particular paper sheet is entitled 'sleepless'.

I've used a selection of my photo's and embellished with Tim Holtz and 7Dot 'Dreamer' die-cuts, bottle tops, 'Dreamer' stickers and the creative expressions 'Tickets' stamped and cut out for added dimension.

Now usually this would be the bit where I tell you how I made it but not today!!!

Nope today I have actually made a little Utube Vid to go along with this project which you can watch HERE

I do a quick flick of the book in the vid for the nosey among you lol

For my closing tie I used a bit of plain white lace that I actually coloured using Distress Stains.

And because the lace was fairly elastic I found when I had finished the book I could fit a mini pen down the spine.

Don't you just love a happy accident!

Hello again snazzy folks, here I am back with my third project of the week.

This time I decided I wanted to show off the beauty of the paper so have gone for a scrapbook layout using the oh sooooo pretty 'Daydreaming' sheet from the 7DotStudio 'Dreamer' collection.

I have a love for shabby chic and for grunge so these papers which combine the 2 are just LUSH.

The page started off with some scraps I had left over from the letter I shared on Monday.

I picked a streampunk pic of myself that I had edited in sepia tones.

I thought I looked like a bit of a dreamer in the pic so I actually cut out the 'dreamer logo' from the bottom of the paper, you know the bit you slice off & throw away.. I added it to one of the 7dotS matching 'dreamer' die-cut elements, roughing up the edges with a distress tool.

To be in keeping with the steampunk theme I used one of the cool snazzys own brand metal steampunk supplies.

But it needed balancing out so I picked some of the very cool Kaisercraft wood flourishes.

I got out my sewing machine and added some lines to look like the cages were suspended by the thread.

I did a bit more sewing before adding a whitewashed bird {i used picket fence distress stain}, I die-cut some Tim Holtz gears out of metal, and aged them up using 'timber brown' stazon.

A few more goes on the sewing machine with more scraps and the page was done!

This is only my third ever 12x12 scrapbook layout {which to be honest I find quite intimidating to make} but with this paper collection it took all the scariness away for me, and I am proper happy with the results.

So what do you snazzy folks think.. Do you have a paper collection that just rocks your world and makes it easier to craft a layout? {if not you really should try this line..well if I can do it so can anyone!!}

I'm totally in love with the idea of mixing my mediums so I thought this the perfect place to show that you don't have to work with just paper on a project. Fabric is good too!

As this card shows..

For the base square I did a wood effect using acrylic dabbers, I then edged it with a gold krylon pen.

Next I layer a square of hessian bag, followed by a square of cotton which I had stamped with sepia archival ink using the very cool 'ticket' stamps from creative expressions.

For the centre I used one of the stickers from the 12x12 'dreamer' collection sticker sheet cut down slightly with some fancy edge scissors.

I die-cut a heart and painted it with gold acrylic dabber, I then wrapped with a single strand of hessian and added another little sticker to complete the look.

Simple, pretty and a mix of mediums.

So next time you look at your supplies.. think what you can do differently!

Hi you snazzy folks!

Minxy here {or my real name Nicky} I answer to both!

So here I am, Officially the newbie to the team,

So...A little about me:

I was born and bred in London but I moved to the west country in 2000. I live with my partner of 7 years in a quiet little town in the middle of nowhere. I am currently changing jobs due to health issues.

.......

I have crafted since the age of about 4 but the obsession only really took over when I moved into my 1st proper home 11 years ago. It started with card making, then I got my internet connection!! I joined some forums, swapped some ATC's, then I discovered Tim Holtz and things were never the same again!!

I would say my style is very eclectic, I love mixed media, collage, stamps, inks, paint, mediums as well as fabrics, felt and lace.

My most used crafty item has to be my Distress Inks, I use them on pretty much everything I make!

I would say I am a jack of all crafts, Master of none!! Well..you gotta try everything at least once don't ya!

If I had to name a favorite style it would be a toss up between Grungy and Shabby Chic. But really anything goes!

I have previously been on 1 other DT and I hope to get myself published some time this year!

Right that's enough waffle from me.. now on to the art!

For my first project I want to share this awesome papier-mache letter that Snazzy's provided me with to show off 'my style'.

They have a whole range in the shop so you can make words and phrases like ART and CREATE.

I started by covering the whole letter with pages from an old dictionary, I used a piece of the 7DotStudio Dreamer collection paper entitled 'Night's Fever' to cover just the front.

Then I got busy with the Tim Holtz stamps.

I used black and sepia archival ink and snowcap acrylic dabber to stamp with.

Next I had a route about in my stash and found some mesh which I layered in the corners and topped with idea-ology trinkets.

A few alteration die cuts later and just a smidge of lace and it was complete.

So as you can see there is a bit of everything chucked on for good measure.

Bit of steampunk, bit of swirlage & lace and plenty of grungy'ness!

Hello Everyone,

As it's now Friday evening I hope you are all looking forward to doing something nice this weekend even if it's only winding down doing nothing much after a busy week. I've had a week out and about quite a lot so not much crafting time but I did manage to get my second project finished in time to show you (by the skin of my teeth, lol).

A couple of months ago our lovely 'Headmistress' Val posted a fab envelope book on her blog here. Val made it for one of the brilliant workshops she holds at Snazzy HQ (wish I lived close enough to go :o( ) and because I expressed a real interest in it Val kindly sent me some envelopes made into the 'bones' of the book so I could see how it was put together. I've kept the original envelopes for future reference (I'm bound to forget how to do it with my sieve-like brain) and used some of my own which are a bit bigger than Val's, together with the fabulous 7 Dots Studio papers to make a Book of Inspirational Quotes I like from my stamp collection.

I'm not going to give details on how I made the book as that wouldn't be fair to Val and instead I am going to bombard you with lots of photos and a list of products I used. If anyone has anything they would like to ask, please email me (email addy on my blog profile) and I'll try to answer your query.

Design Team Project #1 featuring 7 Dots Studio Dreamer Collection (by Lesley)

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year from me,

I hope it's going to be a really good one for us all.

Today I'm kicking off with my first Snazzy's make of 2012 using some fabulous papers and stickers from the 7 Dots Studio Dreamer Collection. This is a gorgeous set of double sided 12 x 12 papers which are really good quality and weight so are suitable for lots of projects as well as stickers and diecut elements.

In the fab DT parcel of products Don and Val sent us to ~~play~~ ... work with there was a really nice Tando Creative Mini Printer's Tray and stand so I decided to use this for my first project this month.

I used the sheet of paper called Sweet Dreams from the collection, making use of both sides of the paper for different parts of my project, together with stickers from the 6 x 12 sheet (there is a 12 x 12 sheet of stickers too).

To cover the background I tamped down the colours a little with Picket Fence Distress Stain and sprayed some pieces with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist. I placed the pieces onto the back board and adhered them before I assembled the 'sectioned' layers and before I attached these I covered them with Tissue Tape and added a little colour with Distress Inks (Evergreen Bough, Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs). The heart is one I made from Platignum UTEE using my Melt Pot and I covered the little wooden bobbin with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and then wound some paper thread round it. The little rolls are strips of silk sari ribbon from my stash as are the buttons.

The trim and charms are from my stash too but Snazzy's have a wonderful new selection of steampunk charms to check out.

I diecut the mannequin from card and from the 7 Dots paper and layered them for a little extra stability, inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink then made a little skirt of mesh ribbon and Tissue Tape. I made a little chatelaine with tiny scissors and a key attached. The little crocheted flower came from an old top I threw out a few weeks ago. I always remove any embellishments from my old stuff, lol! I then attached it to the tray with 3D foam pads.

The quote is from a set of Dylusions stamps which I cut into strips and raised on 3D foam pads. Finally I covered the two pieces of the stand with acrylic paint on the back and the 7 Dots paper on the front before inking round the edges with the Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and adding the oval sticker at the front.

Just a little appetiser for everyone before I finish my post for today. I've been asked to mention that as January is a five week month, Snazzy's will be holding a challenge for all our blog visitors during the last week together with extra inspiration projects from the Design Team so keep popping back to find out what the challenge will be (there is goodies to be won).

Design Team Project #3 & Introducing ....

Good morning everyone .... Gillian here with my final project for this week.

A simple project for today using a wooden puff heart from my own stash. In keeping with the beautiful colours from the 7Dots Studio Dreamer collection, I painted the heart with various colours of Paperartsy Fresco Paints. I then stamped with a Fiskars Circle/Dot border stamp and the "Ticket" plate from Creative Expressions.

I then added stickers from the Dreamer collection to the front of the heart then applied a layer of Ranger Crackle Accents.

Okay now for the EXCITING part and without further ado I can now announce the new DT member to join Snazzy's is ...

But first a sneek peak of the amazing projects to come! ....

Here is a little introduction from the DT member herself:

Design Team Project #2 Featuring 7Dots Studio Dreamer Collection ....

Good Morning everyone .... Gillian here again with my 2nd DT project featuring the "Dreamer" collection from 7Dots Studio. Using the Small Creative Covers Art Part Set from Studio 490 I created a small flip journal to hold my thoughts, memories, inspiration etc throughout this year.

I started out by covering the front and back of my journal with the "City Lights" papers and inking around the edges with Distress Inks (Walnut Stain). I then used embellishments from the "Elments & Stickers" 12x12 set. Using Archival Ink (Library Green) I stamped tickets from the A6 Unmounted Stamp Plate "Tickets" from Creative Expressions some direct onto my project, others have been stamped onto co-ordinating cardstock and trimmed to size.

I have added layers of gauze netting to the spine of the journal, inking with Distress Stain (Vintage Photo) to add colour, the netting was adhered with Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium, I then added various Ideaology embellishments adhering with Ranger Glossy Accents.

On the inside I used scraps of co-ordinating cardstock again from the "Dreamer" collection to create my tag/note pouches. The scraps were folded in half, either side stuck down with adhesive,I then used a 1" punch approx measuring the halfway point of the punch to create the opening leaving the top free to slip a tag or note into. The Grid Stamp is from Kaisercraft which is also available at Snazzy's. I then added scraps of lace & organza ribbon in between the layers.

Good morning everyone ... Gillian here with my 1st DT project of 2012 featuring this to die for set from

7Dot Studio (Dreamer) Collection ... J'adore!

My 1st project is a scrapbook layout featuring papers from the Dreamer collection .... papers used are: Drive All Night, Sweet Dreams & Night's Fever. I have also used pieces from the Dreamer Elements 12x12 collection, Dreamers Stickers 12x12 & Dreamers Stickers 6x12 which are all available from Snazzy's. The stamped Dream Ticket image on the bottom right corner is from the A6 Unmounted Stamp Plate (Ticket) from Creative Expressions.

Other elements used: PaperArtsy Fresco Paints, Distress Inks (Evergreen Bough), Charcoal Pencil,Crafter's Workshop Mask, the picture is from my own collection of images.

Design Team Project 3 .... Featuring My Minds Eye

Hello everyone, I'm back with my 3rd and final project of this year featuring My Minds Eye.

I made this home decor piece using a Large Rectangle Art Part Frame (Large Flourish Frames Set) from Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 range. I covered the frame using MME papers (Remember This). I then used another rectangle frame to add dimension which again was covered in MME papers (Good Measure) and adhered to the centre of the frame using 3d foam pads. I then cut Tim Holtz's Caged Bird die using GrungePaper which was painted with Adirondack Paint Dabber (Expresso) and spritzed with Perfect Pearl Mists (Biscotti). The picture is from the Ideaology Lost & Found Paper Pad which has been mounted using 3d foam pads. I have used brads from the "Everyday" Decorative Brads Set. The Chain Tassles are also from the Ideaology range. I also used Distress Inks (Walnut Stain) to distress the frame.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the DT to say a huge big thank you to Paula for her contribution and inspiring projects for Snazzys.

Design Team Project 2 by Astrid featuring MME

Here are a couple of further little project showing some ideas of how the wonderful My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday Collection and coordinating embellishments can be used.

This Kraft Card is so strong that it spells craft projects to me. As my DT colleagues have shown so many cards already and with Christmas now just around the corner, here are a couple of little gift ideas: A cone (I will provide a template below), and a little candle holder.

Here is the cone which you can fill with little sweet treats.

I cut the template out of one of the papers, glued and folded it together and glued a doily on the inside. I then embellished using some die cuts, little roses and some of the brads from the "Everyday Fun Decorative Brads" (KFD117)

Here is a template for the cone. You can size it to whatever size you want of course.

The second project is a little candle holder

I made a box out of a 6 x 6 piece of one of the papers, cut a hole in the center with a Spellbinders Nestability circle die and glued it onto a doily die cut (also Spellbinders)I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink and used some more of the brads, a ribbon and some punched out leaves to decorate.

DT Team Project 1 by Astrid featuring MME

Well, these last few days have certainly been busy here with my fellow DT team members showing some amazing cards and projects featuring the wonderful My Mind's Eye Ktaft Funday Collection, Stamps and Embellishments. The Kraft paper is so strong that I decided to make a gift box out of it for my first project.

I used my Crafter's Companion Ultimate Pro to make my box but there are hundreds of tutorials all over the internet on how to make such simple boxes.
1 of the 12 x 12 papers ("In Print" KFD 106) from the collection made the basic box and lid, it measures 4 x 6".
I then chose one of the other papers (Ziggity Paper KFD 112), cut it to 5 3/4 by 3 3/4",distressed the edges and inked them with Vintage Photo distress ink. I swiped some gesso over the middle section I then added some more pattern and texture back to the paper by using two of the stamps from the "Happy Days Stamps (KFD 143)in Archival Coffee. I then glued some dark red ribbon from my stash along the bottom.

Next I used one of my Spellbinder dies to cut the snow flake shape out of the same paper, inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink and glued it onto the ribbon. Using one of the stamps from the "Everyday Fun Stamps"(KFD 139) I stamped in Dovecraft Perimium white ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I punched a circle around it and glued it to the center of the snowflake.

Finally I embellished with some roses from my stash, a bradfrom the embellishment set KFD 117 and some buttons from the KFD 113 set.

The little tag was punched from the Ziggety paper, and stamped with other stamps from the sets.

All of these very versatile papers, stamps and embellishments are of course available from Snazzy's and as you can see can easily be adapted for Christmas projects

Ive used the following papers from the MME 'Everyday Fun' Collection; 'Admit One' (both sides) and 'Good Measure' (both sides). I've also used a brad embellishment, a chipboard shape and buttons from the 'Everyday Fun' Collection.

Card Six

The words 'Celebrate' and 'Fun' are stamps from the 'Everyday Fun' stamp set, the word 'wonderful' is an embellishment from the 'Decorative Brad' set, buttons, the ruler is cut from the paper called 'Good Measure' and the other paper is called 'Ziggity'.

DT Project By Paula Featuring My Minds Eye

We had a fab kit of My Minds Eye papers, stamps and embellishments.....the collection is called "Kraft Funday/ Everyday Fun" -Ive made 8 cards that I'll be showing over the next few days.

I just want to take this opportunity to say a big 'Thank You' to Val and Don for asking me to be a part of their Design Team - Ive had a terrific time but due to personal circumstances I've had to step down....also a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment on my projects, it's been very much appreciated.

So, on with the cards....

Card One

I've used the MME paper called 'Ziggity', the dots are a stamp from the 'Everyday Fun' stamp set, the wording is a stamp from the 'Happy Days' stamp set and finally, the brad is from the decorative brad set but Ive coloured the zigzag edged circle it came with, with white paint...also Ive edged the paper with white paint too.

Card Two

Ive used the dotty stamp again but with Versafine 'Smokey Grey' ink, as well as using the words 'Celebrate' and 'Today' which also come from the 'Everyday Fun' stamp set, plus Ive used 3 brads from the 'Decorative Brad' set.

DT Project By Lesley Featuring My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday products

Good morning Everyone,

Well, this is probably my last post for 2011 on the Snazzy DT blog and this month the selection we were sent to work with were fabulous products from My Minds Eye Kraft Funday Collection . This includes a wonderful selection of double sided Kraft papers with matching brads, buttons and clear stamps and today I have two cards to show you.

The first, as you can see is an easel card. I cut the main image from one of the 12" x 12" papers using a Nestability die and enhanced the figures by colouring a little with Inktense Pencils and then matted first onto a red corrugated card and then an ivory card both cut with scalloped Nestabilities.

The scallop edged strips were punched from another of the Kraft papers and edged with black Versafine ink. The banner, words and stars are images from the clear stamps and I used Versafine to stamp with before cutting them out.

I attached the main image and the strips with double sided tape and the stars with 3d foam pads.

For this second card I cut a 6" x 6" square from one of the plain Kraft papers to cover the front of a card base. I cut an aperture from the front of the card of approx 3.25" square using a Nestability die and then stamped with the stars and spots using Archival Coffee before dry brushing with a little Viva Inca Gold metallic paint. I tied some paper cord through three of the chipboard 'banner' buttons and attached them to the card at the top left corner and three buttons to the bottom right.

I cut a 9" x 3" strip from another of the paper designs and made a 3" square concertina. Using the Coffee Archival I stamped some of the clear stamps and some quotes from a Tim Holtz set. I covered the inside back of my card with blue pearlescent card and adhered the concertina to this so that it was centred in the aperture. I mounted the 'star' brad onto a scalloped circle die cut from the blue pearlescent card and placed this and the two die cut flourishes onto the front of the fold out concertina.

DT Project 2 Featuring My Minds Eye ....

Hello everyone, I'm back with my 2nd DT project featuring these wonderful goodies from My Minds Eye.

I started out by making a simple Birthday Card. Cover white cardstock with a sheet of Coredinations in black, then simply cut and layer co-ordinating papers of your choice. I used "Admit One" and "Picnic" to create the rosettes. The "Happy Birthday" quote is from Funstamps UK. The embellishments are from the Kraft Fun - "Everyday Fun" Decorative Brads set & "Everyday Fun" Button pack. The kisses stamp is from the "Everyday Fun" Stamps set.

I then covered the front of a size #5 Manilla Tag with more of the "Admit One" paper, distressing the edges with Distress Inks (Walnut Stain). Using various Ideaology pieces, Swivel Clasp, Jump Rings, Philosophy Tag, Baubles to create a Handbag Charm as the birthday gift. The locket is from my own stash, which has decorative brads adhered on the inside and the outside (adhered using Glossy Accents) from the "Everyday Fun" set.

The reverse of the size #5 tag has been stamped with Archival Inks (Jet Black, Coffee & Manganese Blue) using stamps from the "Happy Days" set & "Everyday Fun" set.

Design Team Project Featuring My Minds Eye ....

Good morning everyone Gillian here with the first DT project for December featuring My Minds Eye.

I have to say I have had so much fun with this kit. This months kit features the Kraft Funday Collection. "Everyday Fun Stamps" (KFD139), "Happy Day Stamps" (KFD143), "Everyday Fun Decorative Brads" (KFD117) & 12 x12 Kraft Funday Papers which are all available from Snazzys.

I started out by covering a small wooden shadow box with Antique Linen Distress Stains. I then used Distress Inks in Tea Dye to age the outside edges and the inside of the box. I stamped the Dot Stamp in Stazon Timber Brown down one side of the box. I then cut a piece of the 12x12 paper (Ziggity Paper) to fit the inside of the box which was edged with Distress Inks (Walnut Stain). I then cut a frame from one of the 12x12 papers (Front Page News), stamped the lower half with the dot stamp from the Everyday Fun Collection. The picture is from Tim Holtz's Lost & Found Paper Pad. I used 3d Foam Pads to mount the picture to the inside of the frame. I then added the arrow decorative brad.

Using the Everyday Fun decorative Brads set I added the Pin Wheels to either bottom corners, these brads are self adhesive. I attached the banner along the top using 3d Foam Pads to add some more dimension and some of the faux buttons down the left side.

Good morning everyone
Here is a second project for this month featuring the wonderful Kaisercraft products (all available at Snazzys of course).

As my last project was rather masculine and shabby looking, I thought I better make something more feminine and "pretty", so I created this tag card

In addition I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder and some of my own made roses.

Here is the tag that fits inside the card

The little embellishments at the top are stamped images from the set which I then cut out. I think all the rest is pretty self evident from the images.

Good morning everyone. This morning it is my turn to share with you the last of the DT projects for November. I have made a grungy tattered recipe booklet with lots of different layers.

The products I used for this are a Kaisercraft 61/2 by 61/2 paper pad "Vintage Timeless" and the Kaisercraft "Duchess" stamp set, both are of course available from Snazzys If you look down to Lesley's amazing project, she gives a clear description of the versatility of these beautiful papers.

In addition I used gesso, a few bits of gauze, some metal elements, a couple of glimmer mists, walnut ink, texture paste and a stencil and finally some Claudine Hellmuths Multi Medium and two 61/2 by 61/2 bits of board for the covers of my book.

I bound my book with my Zutter

Here is how I did it.

1. I chose two of the papers, trimmed a cm. around each edge and glued them together as they were one sided.

2. I then swiped some Gesso over the front with a bit of card and sprayed some glimmer mist (Cinnamon from Tattered Angels) and walnut ink.

2. The next step was to use some texture paste through a stencil to add some more texture. After it dried I added some more walnut ink and sewed on a few bits of distressed gauze.

3.Then I arranged some metal elements, glued them with Matte Medium and painted some Gesso over them to blend them into the background, I also added some more walnut ink to make them look more aged.

4. I then created a photo mat with various bits cut from the papers and a bit of corrugated card, all them distressed with a pair of scissors and inked to make them look old and tattered. Finally I added an old photo from my stash. This was a freebie from Land of Nod Studios.

5. Now it is time to create a frame for the page. I chose another paper from the pad and glued some strips of other papers around some of the edges to create the illusion of more layers.

6. I then glued my original piece on top with double sided tape and mounted both of them on my cover board

. I chose another piece of paper for the back cover and stamped some images to decorate.
7. I then made some beads from some strips of one of the papers by rolling them around a toothpick. (There are loads of videos on youtube of how to do this) and added some ribbons and the beads to the spine to finish.

Phew, its my last entry for this month....Ive got several simple (as always!) cards to show.

This is the back cover of the "Kaisercraft Black and White Timeless" paper pad. Nothing wasted from this paper pad!

Ive used the strip on this card, as well as a strip of one of the papers from the pad itself.

On this card Ive used the Kaisercraft "Duchess" clear stamp set, using a Versafine ink pad in smokey grey.

On the last card, Ive used scraps of papers from the "Kaisercraft Black and White Timeless" paper pad and the border stamp from Kaisercraft "Duchess" clear stamp set.

DT Project #2 by Paula Featuring Kaisercraft....

Another day and another simple project.....this time Ive made a folded booklet to hold some small note cards, which use scraps of the papers I had left over making the booklet.. This is the first time Ive ever tried to make something like this (I know, after 7 years you would have thought I'd have done something like this before!) and I didn't look on the net for a template, I just made a very simple design but once created, I realise I would have done it differently, in the sense I wouldn't have just folded a piece of card over, I would have given it sides with a bit of depth.....unfortunately, I didn't have enough of the papers to then recreate it properly.

Well, after such wonderful projects from Gillian and Lesley my projects are going to seem a little simple/plain but hopefully, there might be something that might inspire you (a girl can hope!)

So, my first item uses a wooden photo frame from Snazzy's - which Ive painted black, I then placed the frame face down onto a piece of card and drew round it and the opening, I then cut it out and covered the card using papers from the Kaisercraft "Black and White Timeless" paper pad. I then used a sewing machine to add zigzag and straight stitching. Finally, I added a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ornate Plate with a cut out of a clock face from one of the papers (the paper in question is shown in the centre of the frame).I used black paint on some cut n' dry to colour the edges of the paper frame before gluing to the front of the wooden frame.

DT Project 3 by Lesley featuring Kaisercraft

My final hello for this month and today I have a 7" x 5" canvas to show you.

I used an old canvas that I er ...... sort of messed up a while ago, lol! I covered it with Gesso and then painted it two different shades of acrylic paint too achieve a very pale but streaky background which I then stamped with the clocks from the Duchess Collection of clear stamps. I wanted a smudgy effect so I used dye inks and then dried them with the heat gun. I also did a few 'scratchy' bits using the edge of a piece of card and disgtressed the corners a little.

I then cut three of the postcards from a sheet of the Vintage Timeless Papers, distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz Distressing Tool and aged them further with a little Distress Ink blending. When they were dry I adhered them to the canvas with Claudine Hellmuths Matte Multi Medium. Although you can't see it on the photos, I smeared some Viva Ferro in Antique Gold very roughly round the sides of the canvas and when this was dry rubbed a little Antique Gold Rub and Buff over the top.

I then covered two mini canvases with a sheet of the world map paper design again from the pad and using the Matte Multi Medium, distressed the edges with Distress Inks and attached a couple of watch parts using Glossy Accents. Can you see where we are here in the UK, lol? I cut the letters from the paperpad and attached them with 3D foam pads and then attached the mini canvases to the main on with Glossy Accents.

Finally, I came to the lovely Kaisercraft laser cut wood hanging clock. I really love this piece and almost didn't alter it in any way because I like the look of it as is but in the end I decided to age it so I applied little bits of the Antique Gold Viva Ferro here and there and when it was dry rubbed over with some Rub and Buff just with my finger. I then covered it with Versamark Ink and clear embossing powder and heat embossed it. I was really pleased with the final effect because where there were little clumps of the Ferro, it bubbled a bit with the heat and gave a really nice bumpy look. I attached this piece using Glossy Accents too.

DT Project 2 by Lesley Featuring Kaisercraft

Hello again everyone,

For my second project this month I made a simple card and it really is simple to do with this gorgeous Kaisercraft Vintage Timeless Paperpad.

First of all I trimmed one of the paper designs to cover the front of a 6" x 6" card base and dry brushed a little Picket Fence Distress Stain over the top left corner. I then distressed the edges with Iced Spruce (one of the limited edition DIs) Distress Ink and used the same ink to randomly stamp the flourish all over (this stamp is one from my stash). I adhered this to my card base.

I then stamped the lovely frame from the Duchess Collection Kaisercraft clear stamps onto the ledger page paper from the Kaisercraft pad with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder before cutting it out. I stamped the sentiment (again from my stamp stash) with Versafine Black Onyx ink and then positioned the frame on my card using 3d foam pads. I then attached a metal butterfly which is from my stash of dismantled cheap jewellery.

Finally I cut another butterfly from the paperpad, enhanced the colours with Coloursoft pencils and attached it to my card just by the body so the wings could lift.

Design Team Project by Lesley Featuring Kaisercraft

Good Morning Visitors,

It's the start of another week and my turn to show you my November project. This month the DT pack contained a lovely 6.5" x 6.5" Kaisercraft Paperpad called Vintage Timeless and their Duchess Collection clear stamps. The paper pad is really lovely and has some beautiful designs with a choices for both feminine and masculine projects. The neutral colours of the Vintage collection are so easy to combine with other colours or add highlights of ink to pick out shades in the designs. They take ink really well too, either blended or stamped.

Anyway, I decided to decorate an Hexagonal Box which I received in my very first DT pack from Snazzys and apart from a little lacy doily I frilled behind the clock face and the die cut leaves, everything else used can be obtained from Snazzys.

I covered the box with a selection of the papers enhancing the colours by blending Adirondack Ink in Salmon and Distress Ink in Bundled Sage and used the lacy border stamp from the set to stamp and emboss the lacy edging.

I stamped and embossed the clock face, cut it out and then blended a little of the ink colours. I took the middle from the small lacy doily and pleated the outer edge onto the back of the clock face with double sided tape before attaching it to the box lid at an angle. I used a very small flower punch (which I've had since I first started crafting) to create the roses which are about the size of a 5p piece and are again from papers in the pad with the colours deepened with the inks before painting them with a glaze.

I cut the butterflies from one of the papers and enhanced the colours with the inks and Coloursoft pencils, shaped the wings and coated them with the glaze. I attached three of the resting butterflies to the bottom piece of the box.

I then arranged the flying butterflies, roses and die cut leaves around the clock face to decorate the top and finally cut the letters from yet another of the papers to spell the word 'TIMELESS' attaching them with foam pads.

I hope this gives you some idea of the versatility of these products and there will be lots more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team throughout the month. I'll be back later in the week with a simple card so hope you'll drop by then.

DT Project 2 By Gillian .... Featuring Kaisercraft

Good morning everyone ... I'm back with my 2nd DT project using more elements from the Kaisercraft "Timeless" Paper Pad and Kaisercraft Clear Stamps (Duchess Collection). I created this Vintage Canvas Hanging by cutting a piece of mountboard to size, then covered it using a scrap piece of Claudine Hellmuths Sticky Back Canvas which was inked with Distress Inks (Old Paper & Walnut Stain) and frayed around the edges. I used various papers from the paper pad which were given a light coat of white acrylic paint, then torn and distressed further using Distress Inks (Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain). The digital image is from my own personal stash, the edges have been distressed further using the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser and inked in Walnut Stain. The stamped images were inked using Archival Ink (Coffee). I added a torn piece of lace to the bottom. The embellishments are from Tim Holtz's Ideaology Collection.

Design Team Project By Gillian .... Featuring Kaisercraft

Good morning everyone .... the beginning of a new month sees some more projects from the Design Team, again featuring Kaisercraft goodies.

For this project I started out by using an Art Frame (size 20x16cm) available from Snazzys. To achieve the "Peeled Paint" effect ....

1. I applied a base layer of Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint, allow paint to dry fully (I used a heat gun to speed things along).
2. I then painted a thick layer of PVA glue (you can also use Vaseline) for this technique.

3. I then painted another layer of Acrylic Paint this time using Buff Titanium, to speed things along I used a heat gun but you can equally leave it to air dry.

4. Remove the PVA glue by using a soft cloth (I used a baby wipe), this will also remove the second colour of paint and give you the "Peeled Paint" effect, you can choose to remove as little or as much as you like.

5. I then used Distress Inks in Walnut Stain to highlight the edges of the frame and the centre insert.

6. I then tore strips of paper from the Timeless Paper Pad (this pad is available in Vintage or Black & White) again inking with Walnut Stain, adhere strips to frame using Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium.

7. For the insert I used a Tim Holtz Texture Fade on cardstock, highlighting the crackle effect with Distress Inks Vintage Photo, trim to size and adhere to insert stand.

8. Apply Rock Candy Crackle Paint to top corners, allow to dry before highlighting areas with Distress Inks.

9. Stamp clock face from Kaisercraft Clear Stamps (Duchess Collection DS209) onto torn paper areas using Archival Ink Coffee.

10. Ink Kaisercraft Wooden Flourish (Roman Clock) with Distress Inks Walnut Stain, apply layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint, set aside to dry. Adhere Ideaology Game Spinner and Hitch Fastener to clock then using Ranger Glossy Accents adhere to frame.

11. Tear quote "Time after Time" from above paper pad, ink with Distress Inks Vintage Photo and adhere to bottom left of frame.

12. Cut words from paper pad, ink with Vintage Photo and adhere to Ideaology Ornate Frame, adhere to wooden frame using Glossy Accents.

For this project I cut out a large tag from a piece of TH Craft resist papers and sponged over it with Ranger Adirondack dye ink in Espresso to bring out the musical notes in the resist.. I then added a strip from one of the Velvet Ensemble papers and die cut some leaves from another scrap of one of the papers. I used an image from my stash and embellished with some words and a paper flower all made from scraps left over from the papers and voila, that was how I made my tag.

Well, here is the last of the DT project featuring these particular Kaisercraft products. Hope you are not too bored with them but will see just how versatile they are….
I started by painting the frame with sage green acrylic paint. I then added a glaze with Paine’s Grey paint and darkened the edges with vintage photo Distress ink. I then stamped the outside of the frame with two different stamps from the collection in Ranger’s archival black. Behind the small apertures I added strips from the paper collection. I found the three large apertures are just slightly smaller than ATC size, so I created 3 music themed ATCs using papers, stamps and elements cut from the papers and positioned them behind these apertures. As my vocal points I used vintage freebies from the internet.

The outside of the frame was further embellished by adding the word “Life”, using elements from the papers and some roses and butterflies from my stash. Finally I added a die cut label(using Spellbinders labels 4),from one of the papers, mounted it on board and added some paints to match the rest of the frame. I then added that to the top to give the illusion of a kind of tall arch or something and added the word “music” behind one of Tim’s ornate plates and covered it with Rangers Crackle Accents.

For this project Ive used a 'Woodware Scrapbook in a Tin', which is large enough to hold a DVD.

The base blue paper is the reverse of the 'Interval' paper and the red patterned is the front of that paper.

All the border strips are cut from the 'Opera' paper and the gramophone has been cut from the 'Stage Show' paper.All the papers have had the edges inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress ink.The Tando music note has been painted black.

Basically, Ive done something on a similar vein to Lesley - Ive given the frame a base coat and then a blue top coat, which Ive sanded in places to reveal the first colour.

I then stamped the border from the 'Velvet Ensemble Collection' and used a white embossing powder.

Ive painted the Alpha Parts white and just used my nail to scratch the paint off around the edges to give a distressed look.

Hi Everyone,

I had a quick play last night with some of the lovely Kaisercraft papers I had left from my previous project and made this simple card.

I just added more distressing to the square of Kaisercraft paper using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a TH Distressing Tool before adhering it to the front of the card. I then took one of the images from another sheet, stamped the TH quote and added a few touches of Vintage Photo with a waterbrush, adhered it to the card slightly off centre and finally added the lace and some pearl trim from my stash.

It's Paula's turn on Monday and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us! Don't forget to pop back then for more inspiration using these wonderful products.

DT Project By Lesley Ebdon Featuring Kaisercraft ....

Hello Everyone,

Wow, the months are flying by aren't they? I can't believe we're into a 3rd month of projects for you on the Snazzy DT Blog and today it's my turn to show you what I've been up to. I have to confess I was a little daunted by the filmstrip frame when I first saw it but within minutes of making a start I was thoroughly enjoying myself and can now see lots more possibilities for this 'little bit different' frame.

First of all I covered all the exposed areas of the two MDF layers with Studio Traditional Tan acrylic paint and then on the top layer I followed this with Eco Green Blue Patina acrylic paint brushed on very roughly and rubbed over with a wet wipe to make it even more patchy. I then inked the border stamp from the Kaisercraft Velvet Ensemble stamp set with Coffee Archival ink and removed some of the ink in patches (did you get the impression I like 'patchy' lol) with kitchen towel before stamping it randomly down both sides of the top layer of the frame.

I chose a decorative strip of paper from one of the 12" x 12" sheets, cut it in half lengthways and again stamped the border with Coffee Archival ink but this time I inked the stamp properly and stamped straight so that the image would show through the holes in the top layer. I adhered the strips to the bottom layer of the frame with Claudine Hellmuth's multi-matte medium.

I found a pretty image (free download from a crafting buddy) in my stash and carefully positioned this on the bottom layer of the frame so that it would show in the middle aperture before adhering with Claudine Hellmuth multi matte medium.
I chose two sections of paper from the Velvet Ensemble Collection and overstamped the gramophone and camera using the Coffee Archival again and also the Claudine Hellmuth multi matte medium to adhere these in postion on the bottom layer of the frame.

I stamped the word Vintage onto a scrap of the paper and placed this under the ornate bookplate before adhering this to the frame with Glossy Accents. I stuck some braid from my stash around the middle aperture, found some paper roses I had made a while ago and some punched leaf sprays left over from another project which I thought co-ordinated pretty well (feels good when you use up stuff you've been hoarding, lol) and arranged these on the frame and finally I cut the butterflies from the Velvet papers using the Tim Holtz/Sizzix butterflies die. I touched the edges of the wings and painted the bodies with the Eco Green Blue Patina and then layered them and adhered them to the frame just by the bodies so that the wings could be lifted.

Well that's my little bit of inspiration for today. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed creating it. As always the main products I have used are available from Snazzys.

1. I started off by swiping the Paris Trunk Ink Pad directly over the frame until the desired coverage had been achieved. I then used a sponge applicator to apply the Paper Soft Moss Green to highlight areas of the frame.

2. Using Archival Ink I stamped sections of the frame using stamps from the above collection.

3. Take the inside section of the frame, cut a piece of cardstock from the above Paper Collection and adhere uisng Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium. Cut further scraps from cardstock, again adhereing with Matte Medium and postion behind where the film strip cut outs are. I then adhered both sections of the frame together using Ranger Glossy Accents.

4. Next, I cut a further border strip from the Paper Collection and adhered along the top of the frame, I then cut a further border, this time the film strip and distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Old Paper), again adhereing with Matte Medium. Take a section of Tissue Tape and adhere along the top of the frame, again distressing with DI Old Paper.

5. I then secured two Ideaology Memo Pins to either side of the frame and attached a length of chain through, securing the Tim Holtz Muse Tokens using Jump Rings.

6. Attach Ornate Plate using Glossy Accents.

7. For the next embellishment I used cardstock from the Lost & Found Paper Stash and the Rosette Die from Tim Holtz Alterations line, securing a metal flower in the centre.

Design Team project 2 Wallet Card

As my final project this month I am going to show you how to create a wallet card. This could be a little gift for an arty friend.

This is what you will need:
1 piece of card stock 25cm by 14cm or if you work in inches 5 ½ “ by 10”
2 pieces of card stock 8cm by 10 cm or 3 ¼ by 4”
1 piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper (I used a sheet of Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby

Score your main bit of cardstock as shown and round the corners of the shortest bit (see picture)

Now score your 2 smaller bits of card every 1 cm or every ½” and fold accordion style

Next you are going to cut your scrapbook paper to line your wallet both on the out and on the inside.
You will need 4 pieces 8 ½ by 13 ½ cm or 5 ¼ by 3 3/8 “
2 pieces 6 ½ by 13 ½ cm or 5 ¼ by 2 7/8
Ink and over stamp these pieces as you see fit.

Now it is time to glue your wallet together: Put a little dab of glue along the accordion fold of your smaller pieces on one side and peg to dry

Once both are dry attach to the wallet as shown. (If you want you can create a little pocket for a gift card or similar first)

I closed it with a Velcro dot and finished by making a matching tag

Book card using Darkroom Door and Tando products

Good morning and hello to you all. I hope you have enjoyed all the amazing DT projects using the Darkroom Door Music collection stamps and the Tando "musical" products so far. Today I am showing you another project using these amazing products.

Here you can see the full set.

I am going to show you a so called Book Card. If you want to learn how to make a book card, there is a great article by Debbie Dolphin in the August 2011 of Craft Stamper. You can also find a description in Swedish, but with very clear photographs here

I covered the inside of my card on the right with Vintage Linen Distress Stain. I then used a paper napkin from my stash, which had musical elements. I used the very thin top layer and decoupaged it onto my background with Claudine Hellmut Studio multi-medium matte. I then used Viva Paper-Soft-Color in Walnut brown through a Tando musical note stencil with the help of an applicator sponge to darken the edges a bit. This stuff is amazing and way better than any other stencilling cream I have come across.
I then embellished with a label cut from music paper and one of the stamps from the Darkroom Door set in Archival Sepia ink from Ranger. The little boy image is a freebie from my friend Terri Kahrs. You can find it here.

The frame was decorated with punched out strips of some Graphics 45 papers from my stash, further elements of the stamp set, all stamped in Archival Sepia, and some of the Tando Musical Notes coloured with Vintage Linen Distress Stain and over stamped with some of the stamps in Sepia as before and edged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink . The little tag was cut from musical note paper, and stamped with one of the stamps from the 7Gypsies Lille Clear stamp set.

The left inside and the outside of the card were covered with papers from the Prima Botanical Collection. The inside was embellished with another Tando musical note and a word from the 7Gypsies Lille clear stamp set, mounted on a die cut, cut from Basil Basics. For the front cover I used two layers of the Prima paper. The outer one was curled around the middle cut out and distressed with the Tim Holtz distresser and edged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I then embellished with Tando Musical Notes and stamps from the Music Collection. The little bird image is a freebie from The Graphics Fairy.

1. Lay the mask on the card and swipe some distress ink through using a piece of cut n' dry foam (Sorry Ive forgotten the colour Ive used)

2. Rub the charcoal over some of the Distress ink and rub it in well with your fingers.

3. Mix some reinker with water and then spritz randomly over the card.

4. Take the tissue tape and concitina/scrunch it as you lay it down on the card.

5.Finally, add the Tando music note (its been left naked) and stamp the quote.

Darkroom Door Stamp Set

Thanks to Gillian and Lesley for such wonderful and inspirational projects using the Darkroom Door stamps etc. The only problem is how do you follow such fab creations...eeekkk
Well, I cant put this post off any longer....so, here goes

The products used are:
Darkroom Door 'Chorus' stamp set
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape (Music)
Distress Ink Pads; Weathered Wood, Tea Dye, Brushed Corduroy
Distress Reinker - Brushed Corduroy

1.Cut a piece of white card to fit onto a black card blank, leaving a small border.
2.Ive taken one of the labels/poster looking stamps and stamped it in weathered wood all over the white card, then just wiped over with a piece of cut n'dry to soften the stamped image.
3.Then I took the stamp saying 'Those who wish to sing always find a song', again stamped it in weathered wood and then wiped over with the cut n'dry to soften the look and wiped the colour over the card so you cant see any white left. Colour the edges with Tea Dye. Cut some V shapes into the card and colour with Brushed Corduroy.
4. Next, I placed a small strip of the tissue tape onto the card and wiped some charcoal round it to give it some depth.
5.I coloured some scraps of white card with weathered wood, then stamped the woman, the label/poster and the wording 'Music is an outburst of the soul' then cut them all out and edge them in Tea Dye.
6. With the label/poster cut out image, cut some V shapes and colour with Brushed Corduroy.Bend the edges and give it a rough distressed look, add to the card with the woman cut out too.
7. Make up a solution of a bit of water and some Brushed Corduroy Reinker in a mister bottle and spritz over the cut words before adding to them card, as shown. Also spritz over the card.
8. Finally, add the stamped/inked panel onto the black card base.

I shall be adding a couple more cards to the blog over the next week but they are very simple and a tad experimental (they dont look as good as that might sound lol)

Stampbord ATCs

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I'm back again with the ATCs I promised which I made to put in the book box. First of all I must apologise for the quality of my photos. Although I am no expert I don't usually have a problem getting decent pics to blog but for some reason my camera just wouldn't give me a really sharp image and the only way I could get anything halfway decent was to double click macro which has of course distorted the shape a bit.

The first one is blended Distress Inks over the Tando music mask and overstamped in the top right corner with part of one of the stamps from the Darkroom Door Music Collection. The quote is from the same set and so is the harpist which I stamped onto card using Distress Ink again and then dragged the colour out a little with a waterbrush. I then cut out the image and covered with two layers of clear detail embossing powder. I curved it very gently with my fingers and attached it to the ATC with silicone glue. I finished off with some scratched highlights to the corner stamping and the quote.

Here is the second one.

I covered the Stampbord with Distress Ink before stamping the image in Aged Mahogany and after making sure it was dry I sanded and scratched the top left corner. I pleated some of the Tissue Tape along the bottom and then layered some of the lace I used to make the flower on the cover before knotting some twine around. I inked two of the Tando music shapes with black ink before covering with 3 layers of clear embossing powder. Before I heated the last layer I inked one of the Music Collection stamps with a gold metalic inkpad, heated the embossing powder and stamped into it whilst it was still molten and adhered them to my ATC.

And here are the ATCs together with the little Book Box.

Book Box using Darkroom Door and Tando products

Hello Everyone,

This is my project for this month using some really gorgeous Darkroom Door stamps, Tando products and Tissue Tape. I decided to decorate a little book box I've had in my stash for a while. It was great fun to do so here come the pics.

I covered the box inside and out with a liberal layer of Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and then dry brushed some gold paint on the spine and over the edges of the pretend pages. Now for some reason my Aged Mahogany reinker has gone really thick and yucky (I bought it ages ago and I'm wondering if it had been badly stored or something) but for my purposes it worked really well because it made the box look as though it had an old leather cover which you might be able to see better if you click on the photo to enlarge it. I then created the front and back covers. I blended several Distress Ink colours over a lovely Tando music mask (one of my favourite things to do) followed by some overstamping and blended inks onto some Tissue Tape before adding to the piece. I stamped, inked and cut out the lovely frame/bookplate and added it using 3D foam pads. I attached the little piano charm and made my flower from a piece of fab lace and a bit from a necklace I had taken to pieces.

I created the two pieces for the inside using similar methods. The quotes come from another Darkroom Door set.

The back cover was created in the same way too.

I hope you like my little box as much as I like the products I used. I will be back later in the week with two Stampbord ATCs I made to put in the box.

DT Project Featuring Darkroom Door & Tando ....

Good morning everyone ... Gillian here back with my DT project for this month featuring Darkroom Door and Tando goodies. I started out by covering a 7x5 canvas board with cardstock from Tim's Vintage Shabby paper stack adhereing with Claudine Hellmuths Matte Medium. I then used Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) around the edges of the canvas. Using the Tando Mask (Music), I spritzed with Adirondack Colour Wash Spray in Expresso and dried with a heat gun. I then adhered Tissue Tape (Symphony) to a piece of manilla cardstock and used Tim Holtz Paper Distresser to distress the edges, again using Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) for highlighting. I then stamped quotes from Darkroom Door Music Collection in Archival Ink (Coffee) onto the cardstock. I then stamped more images from the collection onto vintage shabby paper, trimming to size and mounting with 3d foam pads. Using various musical chipboard shapes from the Tando Music Note Set which have been inked with Distress Stain (Tumbled Glass) and stamped with Archival Ink (Coffee). The small tag has been distressed with Walnut Stain around the edges.

Product review for Black Shrink plastic

Black Shrink Plastic is a somewhat unusual product but very versatile and I love it for making charms and embellishments that go very well together with many of the popular Tim Holtz and 7 Gypsies ranges, they also fit perfectly with the new Bo Bunny Etc range (available from Snazzys soon!). It comes in packs of 6 sheets.
Those of you who have used shrink plastic before will know it is important to sand it down on one side. Well Snazzys’ shrink plastic sheets are pre-sanded on one side already, which makes it very easy to work with.

For those of you who are new to using shrink plastic, it can be a bit scary at first as the stuff crinkles and curls up on itself when heated and you may well think that it will just turn into a big mess. The great thing is, if you take care not to over heat it, it all sorts itself out like magic.There are clear instructions of how to work with it included in the packs. Hope you will give this a try. The sheets are available for the very reasonable price of £4.35 from Snazzys

Here are some projects that show the kind of thing you can do. All you will need is the shrink plastic, some stamps, metallic or light coloured inks and pens.

Here are some more examples of charms used to decorate a project and a set of buttons that could be a gift for a friend who's into sewing.

Tip: When using your heat gun to shrink the plastic, put your item in an empty shoebox or similar, to stop it flying away, also don’t hold the heat gun too close, to stop it from over heating. This one is very important, always cut any holes you may need for your charms or whatever before you shrink it. This bit of info is in the instructions, but I thought it would be good to mention it as it is easy to overlook.

Product Review .... Distress Stains

Good morning everyone ... This week two of the DT will be giving a product review on items they have been sent in their DT kits. I chose to kick off the product review with Distress Stains. How do Distress Stains work ... Well the Distress Stains are a fluid water based dye ideal for paper or other porous surfaces. The Distress Stains have a unique release system making them the perfect dye medium for larger surface areas. They come with a brushed nylon dabber top, when you first open them just press the dabber top down, this will release the spring valve ready for use. Distress Stains are now available in 37 colours!

You can achieve different effects with the stains .... layering the colour gives a more saturated look like the tag on the left. Spritzing with water gives you a more mottled effect like the tag in the centre and also lightens your colour. The newest releases of Distress Stains have a new colour addition called Picket Fence .... this in my opinion is something totally unique ... Picket Fence is a fluid based stain, but the difference with this stain is that it is opaque, you also need to shake the bottle well before each use as there is a mixing ball within. Picket Fence can be used as a basecoat for other stain colours or can be used ontop to change the look of existing colours as you can see on the tag on the right. Picket Fence gives your projects an antique white washed effect.

This tag has been inked with Distress Ink and Distress Stain ..... as you can see the Distress Ink gives a more softer/blended look to the tag when used inconjuction with the blending tool, the Distress Stain is a fluid version of the Distress Ink, when layered the stains give your project a more saturated look.

For me the Distress Stains are an excellent medium to work with, they are easy to apply and give you ultimate control in how much fluid you wish to apply to your projects. The possibilities are endless. DT Project #4 ....Note-card holder

Hello everyone, this is Astrid here and I am very excited to bring you my first project as DT member for Snazzys.

I am going to show you how you can create a little note-card holder that would make a wonderful gift for any friend that is not a card maker, although even someone who is a card maker might enjoy receiving something like this. The holder will hold up to four 9cm x 9cm (3.75 x 3.75 “) double note-cards. Obviously you can make both the holder and the note-cards in whatever style you wish, I am going to show you two, one more masculine and one more feminine. All materials I used are available from Snazzys

Here are two examples of both the holder and some note-cards to go inside.

First the little folders:

And now for some note card examples:

This is what you will need:
For the note-card holder:
1 piece of strong A4 card any colour
2 sheets of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper (I used 7 Gypsies Lille papers for my masculine cards and holder and Prima Botanicals for my feminine cards and holder)

For the note-cards:
For each card you will need:
One piece of card 18 cm x 9 cm ( 7” x 3.5”) scored and folded in half (for my masculine ones I used black, for my feminine ones, cream)
One piece of strong coloured paper 8.5 cm x 8.5 cm (3.25 “ x 3.25 “) (I used dark red and pale green)
One piece of scrapbook paper 8 cm x 8 cm (just over 3” x 3”). I used the Lille and Botanical papers again, - great to use up scraps.
A selection of stamps ( I used Darkroom Door Steampunk DDRS068, Chorus DDRS012 and also some Tim Holtz and 7 Gypsies, all available from Snazzys) I also used some freebies from craft magazines.

In addition you will need
Ruler
Craft knife
Your favourite glue (I used a basic glue stick, some PVA adhesive and a Stix2 permanent glue roller and my ATG)
A selection of embellishments of your choice

Here is the template for the holder:

Method:
1. Print out the template full size onto A4 paper and cut out
2. Glue your chosen paper onto your strong A4 card, let dry
3. Trace the template onto your card and cut out
4. Score and fold along the fold lines, fold all the flaps towards the centre of the holder and open out again
5. If you want to enhance the cover with stamps, now is the time to do so, this is also the time to cover the inside of the top flap with more paper if you want
6. Fold the two sides towards the centre, then fold up the bottom flap and carefully glue it all in place
7. To close your folder you can use a large brad, Velcro dots or whatever closure you can come up with
8. Create you note-cards, put them in the holder and your little gift is finished

Well, I hope you will give this a try, above all have loads of fun, use your creativity and imagination!

DT Project #3 (Part 3)

Can you tell I really love these new 7Gypsies 'Lille' papers,stamp and tags - Well, here's my last offering using these gorgeous items.

For this card, the base paper is the reverse of the 'Beautiful' sheet - which Ive randomly rubbed over with some blue Distress Ink.

Ive stamped the words 'Beautiful' and 'Life is Good' (only used the 'Life' part) on a blue coloured strip of paper, again from the 'Beautiful' sheet

The bird image is from the 'Beautiful' paper, which Ive cut out and layered with another section from the 'Beautiful' paper (music score).

The printed numbers are from the 7Gypsies 'Lille' tags and so is the red tag hole on the top of the bird image,Ive coloured the ribbon with red distress stain.

Finally, Ive spritzed a mix of Brushed Corduroy re-inker and water.

The one thing I would say is, don't be scared to cut these papers up - yes, they are wonderful as they are but you can create something a bit more unique if you dare to take your scissors to them.....go on,I dare you!

DT Project #3 (Part 2)

I happen to have the same idea as Lesley, as Ive also covered my card with the wording from the 7Gypsies 'Lille' collection paper ,my choice was the aptly titled 'Life is Good' - Ive rubbed blue distress ink along the edges of the red printed panel to give it a little bit of depth, Ive also rubbed charcoal around the wording, again, to give it a bit more depth and dimension.
The flowers are made using Tim Holtz Glassine Kraft paper - Ive just freehand cut out 4 decreasing in size circles, then scrunched them up - which gives them a great worn effect. You then simply layer them and Ive added small watch cogs to the flower centres.
The leaves and Butterflies have been cut from a paper which is from the 7Gypsies 'Conservatory Collection'.

DT Project #3

Well, here goes...my first project for Snazzy's.....be gentle with me!

When I first saw the 7 Gypsies 'Lille' Collection of papers, this one really stood out for me - I'm not a scrapbooker but this really felt like a good 12x12 paper to make a simple page but without looking too simple....do you know what I mean? If you don't, no worries lol I also had this 12x12 box frame sitting in my craft room, think Ive had it for 4 years or more - you can still buy them from 'The Range'. It was a plain wood frame but I've given it one of my painted treatments (which will be explained in the future).
Anyhow, I took the 'Life is Good' sheet and spritzed some red distress stain across the page, not sure if it shows up in the pics or not - I then took some Weathered Wood Distress ink, and rubbed it here there to give some of the printed images depth.
Ive added a 7Gypsies 'Lille' tag but I cut the end off and used it further up the page on the left hand side. (black with a printed number on it).
The name is Grungeboard letters which have simply been painted in black.
The butterflies and moths have been cut out of a piece of paper from the 7Gypsies 'Conservatory Collection'.
Ive also added a Tim Holtz clock face and spinner and a piece of ribbon coloured with distress inks.

I really wish I could show you the photo, which happens to be my nephew Jake but my brother/Jake's Dad wasn't to keen,which I do understand - I realise I'm biased but he's a real cutie,well, you'll just have to believe me on that one!

DT Project #2

Good Morning All,

It's my turn to show you my first proper DT project. I decided to make a card that incorporates a couple of tags using some fabulous 7 Gypsies Lille papers and stamps.

Here is the card with the tags in the pockets I made on the front.

and here it is without the tags.

I cut the sheet of 7 Gypsies Lille paper to position the word 'beautiful' exactly where I wanted it and distressed the edges with a TH distressing tool and ink. I cut the two slots for the tags where I wanted them and then adhered the paper to a co-ordinating piece of card, which I also distressed, leaving the middle unattached so the tags would slot in. Before affixing these to my base card I blended Paris Trunk Indian Sapphire ink and PaperSoft Apricot round the edges of the base card dabbing through sequin waste in some areas.

To make the flowers I adhered some of the paper to molding plastic and then die cut it with TH Tattered Florals die. I inked the edges of the petals with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink before molding them with the heat gun and then layered them and added some beads before gluing them to my card together with some sari silk ribbon.

Next came the tags.

I'm not going to go into detail over how I did each tag in case I bore you rigid, lol, but if anyone has any questions please ask away in the comments and I'll be happy to tell you what I did (if I can remember, ha! ha!). Basically, I did lots of blending of inks, tearing of papers, overstamping with a mixture of the 7 Gypsies Lille stamps and some of Mr Holtz', clear embossing, spritzing with Cosmic Shimmer Mica Spray and rubbing with Inca Gold. In other words, I had a lot of fun!

These are all wonderful products to work with so if you are wanting to add any of them to your craftroom stash just give Snazzys a ring.

Design Team Project #1 (Part Two)

Good Morning ... Gillian here back with my extra bonus project using the 7Gypsies DT project kit.

I started out by covering this 7x5 canvas board using a selection of the 7Gypsies Lille paper collection and distressing areas with Distress Inks (Vintage Photo). The Tando Chipboard shades were inked with Vintage Photo & Versafine (Crimson Red). Adventure, Life is Good, Music and Bird images are all from the 7Gypsies Clear Stamps Set inked using Versafine (Onyx Black). All of the above are available from Snazzy's by calling 01793 60 24 70.

Design Team Project #1

Good morning everyone ... Gillian here with my 1st DT project for Snazzy's. My project kit contained the following items which are available from Snazzy's.

7Gypsies Lille 12x12 Papers
7Gypsies Lille Clear Stamps
7Gypsies Lille Tags
Ranger Distress Stains (Vintage Photo & Weathered Wood)
Versafine Crimson Red
Tando Creative Chipboards (Mixed)

I started out by painting the smallest of the Configuration boxes including inserts with Adirondack Paint Dabber (Expresso). Using the 7Gypsies (Lille) papers I tore various areas of the paper and adhered to the side and top of the box using Matte Medium, then distressing with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo). I then stamped 7Gypsies (Lille) clear stamps in Versafine (Crimson Red) onto the 7Gypsies (Lille) tag and distressed with Vintage Photo. The inserts top left, top right, bottom left & bottom right also have 7Gypsies (Lille) paper within. I then covered the small Tando Chipboard squares with Lille papers and edged with Vintage Photo attaching a Philosophy Tag on one & a piece of IdeaologyTape on the other . I then stamped (7Gypsies Lille Stamps) onto said papers and adhered to the Ideaology Cork Vial (again using Matte Medium) and distressing with Vintage Photo. In the centre of the box I have torn a piece of 7Gypsies Lille papers and adhered to the Ideaology Film Strip using Matte Medium. I then highlighted various areas of the Configuration Box with Metallic Rub on Wax. Various Ideaology embellishments have been used to decorate the box.

Hello, my name is Astrid and I am so happy and excited to be part of Snazzy’s design team. I love Snazzys and their wonderful products, - designing for them is like a dream come true!

To start with I will tell you a little bit about myself:

I am a teacher by profession but drawing, painting, playing with colour and form, has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My all-time favourite birthday present was when I turned five and my godmother gave me a big red leather pencil case filled with coloured pencils and wax crayons. I can still see it in my mind’s eye, - she must have known me well….

I have been stamping and paper crafting probably for about 10 years or so, but did not get seriously into it until about 2007.
My paper-crafting hobby has developed from those early stamping and card making days into using many different media. I love journaling, altering all sorts of objects and playing about with gesso, acrylic paints, collage and many layers. Often I use my stamps more for creating backgrounds rather than as a main vocal point. I use many different styles in my work, shabby chic, grungy, even zetti at times, but my all time favourite is vintage. My blog friends often describe my work as romantic and elegant. I have been published in the Winter 2011 issue of Somerset Studios Art Journaling.

I am originally from the Netherlands but have been living in Scotland for 38 years. I am married to a loving Scotsman who is also my best friend. He is quietly indulgent and tolerant of my paper-crafting hobby and turns a blind eye when my next parcel of crafting goodies arrives through the post. (A rather regular occurrence). I am mother to three grown up children.

My all time favourite products are Tim Holtz Distress inks, and you guessed it, the colour I use most is Vintage Photo. In addition you will find that I use Gesso in most of my projects and I love to layer with paper napkins.

My initial was created using many different layers that include all of these products. I started by painting my letter with Titan Buff acrylic paint. I then layered some bits of paper napkins over this, interspersed with plain tissue paper stamped with 7 Gypsies Lille clear stamps and some Tim Holtz stamps. I then sponged Old Paper and Vintage Photo distress inks around the edges and to tie the different elements together. Finally I finished by adding some grunge roses, butterflies and pearls from my stash.

One of my favourite pieces is this altered box. In its first incarnation it was a cigar box I got for free from a kind tobacconist. I covered it with some of my favourite scrapbook papers from Prima Marketing Botanical Collection and some Graphics 45 Once Upon a Springtime papers and embellished with images from The Graphics Fairy and other bits and pieces from my stash.
